Ueno Park, located about 10 minutes from Tokyo Station by train, is home to about 800 cherry trees of more than 50 varieties, including Somei Yoshino and Yamazakura, and has been a popular cherry blossom viewing spot since the Edo period.
The Ueno Cherry Blossom Festival is usually held from mid-March to early April. During the festival, you can enjoy viewing the cherry blossoms at night, under the lights of bonbori (Japanese lanterns).
Located about a 10-minute walk from Ueno Onshi Park, and just a minute away on foot from JR Ueno Station, as well as the Tokyo Metro Ginza and Hibiya Lines, Hotel Risol Ueno proudly operates under the concept of "A Hotel That Creates." It opened its doors in 2020, positioned in Ueno, a cultural hub where people and cultures intersect, aiming to facilitate the discovery of new values.
The hotel staff includes English speakers, and those who do not speak foreign languages use translation devices to communicate effectively. Additionally, the hotel provides guides and information in English to accommodate guests.
Original artwork inspired by Ueno is displayed in the front lobby. The hotel offers two types of guest rooms, double and twin. All rooms feature a shoe-off-style room, and the bedding is carefully selected to ensure a good night's sleep. Wi-Fi is available in all rooms free of charge.
An international guest who stayed at the hotel commented:
"The hotel staff is kind and polite. There was coffee in the lounge, and it was delicious. I would like to stay here again if I have a chance."
For breakfast, guests can get stuck into the “Bagel Set” (half-size), which features a bagel sandwich designed with nutrition in mind, or the “Bread Set,” which boasts three kinds of freshly baked petite breads.
The bagel sandwich alternates every day from a selection of five, including the protein bagel with meat or fish and the vegetable bagel. The petite bread also changes with the seasons. Both sets include a side menu of soup (changes daily), yogurt, and a drink.
Guests who did not book the breakfast plan can join for a separate fee of 800 yen (including tax).

Chidorigafuchi, situated approximately 20 minutes away from Tokyo Station by Tokyo Metro, is home to around 260 cherry blossom trees, including the popular Somei-Yoshino and Benishidare varieties.
Every year, from late March to early April, the Chiyoda Cherry Blossom Festival takes place, drawing in over a million visitors from both Japan and overseas to admire the stunning blooms.
During the festival, the 700-meter-long Chidorigafuchi Moat is transformed into a picturesque cherry blossom wonderland, with the trees beautifully illuminated at night, offering a breathtaking sight from boats on the water. Yasukuni Shrine also hosts various events during the festival period.
Located just a short 15-minute walk from Chidorifuchi Greenway, one of the top cherry blossom viewing locations in Tokyo, the Villa Fontaine Tokyo Kudanshita hotel is also conveniently situated a mere 3-minute walk from Jimbocho Station on the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line, Toei Mita Line, and Shinjuku Line.

In addition, a satisfying breakfast including bread, soup, salad, and a drink menu is offered. To enhance the comfort of your stay, services such as HDMI cables and massage chairs are available. The hotel also provides free Wi-Fi throughout the building.
International guests who have stayed at the hotel have commented, "The rooms are clean and just right, and the staff are courteous. I would like to stay here again."
Besides the regular accommodation plans, the hotel offers a convenient day-use plan that is perfect for a quick rest between cherry blossom viewing or to spend time until the evening when the cherry blossoms are lit up. 3. Hotel Mid In Meguro Ekimae: Near the Meguro River Cherry Blossom Promenade!
Along the 4-kilometer Meguro River stretch from Ikejiri Ohashi to Kame-no-Ko Bridge, as many as 800 Somei-Yoshino trees bloom every year. During that time, the shopping streets of Meguro, Nakameguro, and other areas, hold various events to celebrate the cherry blossoms.
Also, illuminations and food stalls appear, and there are also stage performances by local groups and dances.
It is said that the atmosphere of the rows of cherry trees changes depending on whether you stroll upstream or downstream, so it is recommended to take a walk and enjoy them fully.
Hotel Mid In Meguro Ekimae is just a 3-minute walk from Meguro River, one of the most popular cherry blossom spots in Tokyo, and a three-minute walk from Meguro Station on the JR, Tokyo Metro Namboku, Toei Mita, and Tokyu Meguro lines.
English-speaking staff are available. The hotel can arrange for luggage delivery to the airport (Haneda/Narita) upon request (chargeable, accepted until up to two days before check-out).
There is a large assortment of rooms to select from, including singles, doubles, connecting rooms holding up to 4 people, along with “barrier-free” rooms for those in wheelchairs. Guests can even select the color of their desired room, although you’ll have to let them know in advance. There are three kinds of room patterns available; red and black, pearl and purple, and black and blue. Wi-Fi is available in all rooms, free of charge.
"The building is very close to Meguro Station, and there is a convenience store two doors down from the hotel entrance. The elevator has a card key system for security. I had a single room, but the bed was large enough for me to sleep comfortably," commented a foreign guest.
To provide you with a good night's sleep, the hotel focuses on beds and bedding, and collaborates with Nishikawa Corporation, which has been in business since 1566, to provide wide beds with pocket coil-mats.
The hotel also uses the ERGO-STER, a functional under-cover futon that won the Gold Prize in the Good Design Award for the first time in the bedding industry.
There are two types of pillows to choose from: feather and buckwheat, so you can experience the most comfortable sleep.

4. Citadines Shinjuku Tokyo: Right Next to Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden!
The historical Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden was established in 1906 as Imperial parkland and boasts a whopping 68 different species of cherry blossom - including the classic Yoshino cherry and adorable Yae cherry. The number of trees is equally incredible - around 1,000!
This makes it one of the most esteemed cherry blossom viewing spots within the 23 wards of Tokyo.
With so much variety, the cherry blossoms here bloom in succession over a surprisingly long period of time, with the “Kanzakura” blooming as early as mid-February before the Yoshino burst into color in late March and the Yae from around April.
From late March to late April, cherry blossoms are lit up at night, offering a chance to enjoy the magical illumination of varieties such as double-flowered cherry blossoms. Food trucks are also available on-site, providing a range of menus suitable for cherry blossom viewing.
Citadines Shinjuku Tokyo is an apartment-style hotel located just 7 minutes on foot from Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and 15 minutes from Shinjuku Station, which is connected to a host of lines, including JR, the subway, and private railways. It’s also a quick 5-minute walk from Shinjuku-gyoenmae Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line, making it a great base to explore Tokyo.
The main selling point here is the fully-equipped rooms aimed at longer-term stays. Each room has a built-in kitchen set up with cooking utensils and cutlery alongside a Simmons Bed for restful sleep. Guests can also use the fitness corner and business assistance services like FAX and printing (additional fee), making it an ideal base for a workcation.
There are four room types: Double, Twin, Executive Double, and Executive Twin. Excluding the twin, each room has a fold-out bed allowing up to 3 people to stay (additional fee). Those with pets can also stay, with cages, food bowls, toilet trays, and more, available for rent (conditions apply). Naturally, the entire facility has free Wi-Fi.
*Pets cannot be brought into Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden.
The hotel has bilingual staff on duty 24/7 with English signage and information on nearby facilities and hotel guides in several languages available.
An international visitor who stayed at the hotel said, “the rooms were extremely spacious and comfortable, and the simple kitchen was very useful. The staff were kind, and all sorts of thoughtful services were available. Even though the rooms were on the main street, I could hardly hear any noise at all!”

5. Asakusa Tobu Hotel: Near the Cherry Blossom Hotspot of Sumida Park
Asakusa is one of Tokyo’s most iconic neighborhoods. One of its biggest draws is Sumida Park, which stretches alongside the Sumida River within walking distance of the famous Senso-ji Temple.
On the Taito City side of the river are around 600 cherry blossoms, while the Sumida City side has over 300, forming a continuous line along both banks running for a whole kilometer.
The Sumida Park Cherry Blossom Festival is generally held between late March and early April and features food stalls, taiko drum performances, and after-dark illuminations.
Just 2 minutes on foot from Sumida Park is the Asakusa Tobu Hotel, which offers unrivaled access to many of Asakusa’s most famous attractions. It is also a mere 30 seconds walk away from Asakusa Station on the Tobu and Tokyo Metro Ginza Lines and just 3 minutes from Asakusa Station on the Toei Asakusa Line. The hotel employs English-speaking staff along with floor information posted in English, Chinese, and Korean.
Guest rooms are divided between the double and twin accommodating two people, the triple for up to three people, and the “Forth” housing for up to four people (some twin rooms can hold three people).
There are several types of double and twin rooms to choose from with different atmospheres and sizes, meeting various needs. The bathroom is also noticeably spacious, with many boasting a dedicated area to wash oneself before hopping in the bath as per Japanese custom, which is rare for hotels even in Japan. Of course, the hotel offers free Wi-Fi.
One international guest who stayed at the Asakusa Tobu Hotel said, “I was thankful for the spacious and impeccably clean bathroom. The location was also fantastic - I was right by the station, which made it easier to get around Tokyo.”
Of course, no introduction of the Asakusa Tobu Hotel would be complete without showing off the “Hello Kitty Rooms.” These are one-of-a-kind in the Tokyo hotel industry and are split between the Sakuratennyo (Cherry Blossom Maiden) and “Japanese-Modern” styles.
The Sakuratennyo room features a pastel pink aesthetic with Hello Kitty dressed up as the aforementioned cherry blossom maiden, while the Japanese-Modern flaunts a relaxing, toned-down ambiance incorporating elements of both Japanese and western design centered around a kimono-clad Hello Kitty. Both can accommodate up to four guests.
Guests can enjoy dinner and breakfast at the hotel’s “SEASON’S RESTAURANT.” The breakfast buffet, which runs between 6:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., hosts a smorgasbord of all-you-can-eat customizable onigiri rice balls, obanzai, and more, made from top-quality ingredients.
In addition to Japanese food, there is a hefty helping of fresh Danish pastries sure to lure you in with the fragrant smell of butter.
Between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., a prix fixe course is served at the restaurant using top-tier seasonal ingredients. This course incorporates table-side service allowing you to choose from and be presented with various appetizers, soups, western and Japanese dishes, and desserts.
Plus, on weekends and holidays between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. is a special Hello Kitty-inspired cafe menu featuring sweets and drinks recreating Hello Kitty's cute, colorful world (*temporarily closed from June 2023 until further notice).
