Get in some great Japanese food at Kansai International Airport before your flight!
The restaurants are generally divided into the second floor domestic flight area of first terminal building’s Dining Court Machiya Komichi and Gourmet Avenue ‘Renga Toro’, and the third floor’s restaurant shop floor.
Let’s take a look at three great restaurants found amongst them!
Ganko Sushi: Masterful sushi and great Japanese food at Kansai Airport
When visiting Japan, you definitely want to try sushi and other Japanese cuisine. To that end, try Ganko Sushi, a famous chain in Kansai that’s been in business for over 50 years!
You’ll find it on the Kansai Airport restaurant shop area on the third floor of the first terminal building. Here, expert chefs put their hearts into authentic sushi and Japanese cuisine, available at reasonable prices.
One particular dish popular with tourists is the Nigiri Set (1,980 yen without tax). It consists of an immense twelve types of nigiri sushi, including tuna, squid, octopus and sea bream. Furthermore, it comes with another Japanese classic: Tempura!
The Jo-unagiju Akadashi-tsuki (2,580 yen without tax), an eel set with red dashi, also demands attention. The soft, thick eel is grilled to fragrant perfection. It’s enriched with a sweet sauce that will make sure you won’t be able to stop eating!
This Kansai Airport restaurant boasts a packed menu, with sushi, standalone dishes, and sets. Whether you’re feeling slightly hungry or famished, you’ll find an item that fits you. There are also table seats perfect for groups, and counter seats where you can watch the chefs get to work.
*Dishes may vary in price and content depending on season.

Kineya: Hand-made Udon Noodles with flourish!
Udon is a Japanese variety of noodles famous around the world. For udon, try Kineya on Kansai Airport's first terminal building’s third-floor restaurant shop area.
This udon restaurant has handmade noodles, crafted with the traditional techniques of Sanuki, a place well-known for its udon. You can even see the chefs make the noodles up close inside. They use Kansai-styled broth to truly bring out the udon’s flavor.
One popular item with tourists is the kitsune udon (680 yen, tax included). Kitsuneage, made from carefully chosen aburaage that’s been meticulously grilled, is placed on the udon.
The aburaage is an ingredient Kineya offers with confidence, made with a powerful mix of sugar, soy sauce, and other spices to make it equal parts sweet and juicy. The combination of aburaage and udon seems to be popular with overseas guests.
Another popular item is the beef udon (980 yen, tax included), packed with beef that goes very well with the noodles. The sweetly boiled beef and the egg on top add a deep flavor to the bowl.
While we’re on the topic of Japanese food, you can’t forget tempura udon (830 yen, tax included). They bring the shrimp, eggplant and beefsteak tempura on a separate dish, allowing you to enjoy them on their own if you wish. You can also dip them into the soup and have them that way, too.
There’s also the popular unaju set (1,980 yen, tax included), an eel box and udon. The puffy eel meat and thick sauce has captivated countless tongues.

551 Hosai: Osakan soul food with takeout available too!
When it comes to Osakan soul food, you can’t forget the Chinese restaurant 551 Horai. You’ll find it on the second floor of Kansai Airport's first terminal building, in the Dining Court Machiya Koji.
Their famous nikuman dumplings are made at the storefront. They take large, squarely-cut pieces of pork and onions, wrap them individually in a slightly sweet dough, and steam them right there.
Another popular item you can order in singles are the shumai, juicy dumplings filled with pork and onions. Nikuman can be bought chilled (4 for 760 yen, tax included), as can shumai (10 for 700 yen, tax included), making them perfect for souvenirs.
Their most popular eat-in item is the 551-men, a noodle bowl. They use homemade, well-aged noodles that boast a deep flavor in the soy sauce-flavored broth. The kaisen-men bowl makes liberal use of seafood, combining soft shrimp and squid with crunchy vegetables in a light broth for an irresistible taste.
Their gyoza, with a perfect balance of meat and vegetables, is loved by young and old alike. If you’re looking for some hot, authentic Chinese food that you’ll always remember when looking back on your trip, this is your place.
