- Written by: WESTPLAN
The Osaka Amazing Pass is an exceptional ticket that allows you to freely ride trains and buses in and around Osaka for one or two days, and best of all, grants free entry into more than 40 major tourist spots. You can also enjoy benefits at numerous restaurants, making your Osaka trip even more amazing!
What is the Osaka Amazing Pass?
The Osaka Amazing Pass is an affordable sightseeing pass that grants access to numerous venues across the city, accompanied by a guidebook packed with coupons and an accompanying mobile app. With varying options for the duration and covered train lines, you can effortlessly hop on and off specified trains and buses at your convenience.
Where to buy the Osaka Amazing Pass
In-person, the best place to purchase the Osaka Amazing Pass 1- and 2-day tickets is at the commuter pass sales office in the Osaka Metro stations.
Other locations include the JR Osaka Station Central Ticket Gate, JR Shin-Osaka Station 3F Concourse, tourist information centers at Nankai Namba Station 1F, and the Kansai Tourist Information Center at Kansai Airport. Payment by credit card is possible at tourist information centers; elsewhere, payment must be in cash.

How to use the Osaka Amazing Pass
To use the Osaka Amazing Pass, put it in the appropriate slot at the ticket gate. For free entry into tourist sites, present your card at the ticket window.
To take advantage of the guidebook’s discounts, remove the necessary coupon from the book and present it with your pass. Alternatively, if you’re using the mobile app, show the displayed e-coupon.
Note that some facilities will require reservations in advance.
Is the Osaka Amazing Pass worth it?
If you don't plan to visit any attractions covered by the pass, it won't be worth it as a transport pass alone. But if you have some time to explore and use the Osaka Metro, the pass can be a good investment.
Here are two examples:
1. If you visit the Umeda Sky Building (reg. 1,500 yen) and Osaka Castle (reg. 600 yen), using the Metro, the one-day pass will likely pay for itself. Adding one more attraction will save you money.
2. Starting at HARUKAS 300 Observatory (10% off), then going to Tsutenkaku Tower (reg. 900 yen), Osaka Castle (reg. 600 yen), and the Umeda Sky Building (reg. 1,500 yen), ending with the Wonder Cruise around Dotonbori (reg. 1,200 yen), the pass will not only pay for itself but also save you money.
There are many more examples where the pass will be beneficial, so keep reading to learn about the inclusions.
Where to go with 1- and 2-day passes
With a one-day ticket, you can ride the Osaka Metro and Osaka City Bus (excluding some routes), as well as the Hankyu, Hanshin, Keihan, Kintetsu, and Nankai train lines running within Osaka City.
Two-day tickets are limited to the use of the Metro and City Bus (all lines).
Sample Osaka 1-day itinerary using Osaka Amazing Pass
