Yakiniku
When in Japan, grilled meat is a must—and Yokohama delivers with a wide range of yakiniku restaurants specializing in Japanese Wagyu beef. Whether you're after an all-you-can-eat feast or a meaty, satisfying meal, there's something here for every carnivore.
Beyond the big-name chains, you'll also find local favorites tucked away in the city. If you're after top-quality yakiniku, Yokohama won't disappoint.
1. Yakiniku TORAJI

Founded in Ebisu in 1995, TORAJI is now a well-loved yakiniku chain with locations throughout Japan. Known for its beautifully presented dishes and fresh, high-quality ingredients, the brand even operates its own TORAJI FARM to ensure safe, flavorful beef from the source.
Their streamlined logistics system delivers meat quickly and without freezing, guaranteeing fresher cuts and superior taste at every restaurant.
- Yakiniku TORAJI is a restaurant my Japanese friends often book for anniversary celebrations. They offer set menus that include appetizers, yakiniku, and desserts at reasonable prices. Despite being affordable, the quality of the melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef is exceptional. I highly recommend visiting with your significant other!
- The new Yokohama branch of TORAJI features a decor dominated by natural wood, creating a stylish and inviting ambiance. There are also seating areas where you can enjoy night views, making it a fantastic spot for an evening visit!

1. YAKINIKU CENTER

If you're after authentic Japanese Wagyu beef, YAKINIKU CENTER is a must. Just a 5-minute walk from Yokohama Station, it offers premium cuts—including Japanese Black beef and Yamagata wagyu—at surprisingly affordable prices.
Despite the value, quality is never compromised, with carefully selected meats and rare cuts that impress even seasoned yakiniku fans. The restaurant also serves Grade A “Haenuki” rice from Yamagata, whose sweet aroma pairs perfectly with the rich, juicy beef.
- On weekdays, they offer yakiniku rice bowl lunches starting from 1,050 yen, perfect for those who want to fuel up before hitting the shops again!
- In addition to beef, the restaurant also has all-you-can-eat Korean-style grilled pork belly sets, providing an extra option to enjoy!

Unique Dining Experiences
Who says dining has to be limited to land? In Yokohama, a port city with a rich maritime history, you can enjoy a one-of-a-kind meal aboard a dining cruise ship.
Whether you're taking in the skyline on a sightseeing boat or savoring a full-course meal while drifting along the bay, it's a memorable way to experience the city. Some food tours even include guides who offer deeper insights into Yokohama’s unique culinary culture!

For a romantic White Day or special occasion, consider a cruise aboard Yokohama’s iconic *Marine Rouge*. With over 30 years of history and many loyal guests, this spacious dining cruise offers elegant French cuisine paired with stunning harbor views.
Enjoy panoramic sights of Yokohama Bay Bridge and the cityscape through large windows or from the open-air deck. Whether you're toasting an anniversary or planning a proposal, this luxurious cruise promises an unforgettable experience sure to impress your loved one.
- If you provide advance notice in the remarks section when making your reservations, the cruise company can also accommodate requests for vegetarian lunch or dinner.
- One of my favorite features is their special cruise schedule at 5 PM, allowing everyone to enjoy the beautiful sunset over Yokohama Bay. It's incredibly romantic!

2. Local HAMA-WINE and Sushi Making Workshop

Sushi may be Japan’s signature dish, but if it’s starting to feel less novel, the Local HAMA-WINE and Sushi Making Workshop offers a fresh and fun twist.
This 2.5-hour interactive experience lets you roll sushi with a chef while sampling wine from a local Yokohama winery. It’s a delicious way to explore sushi culture with a new pairing and perspective—perfect for food lovers looking for something beyond the usual.
- The meeting point is conveniently located at Exit 5 of Motomachi-Chukagai Station, so you can easily get there by train without worrying about getting lost. Before or after, you can also explore and shop for souvenirs near Chinatown, making it very convenient!
- The venue is wheelchair-accessible, ensuring that guests using wheelchairs can also participate without any inconvenience.
Izakayas
Visiting Yokohama with a group of friends? An izakaya is the perfect place to gather, eat, and relax! You'll find plenty near Yokohama, Minatomirai, and Sakuragicho Stations, including popular chains like Torikizoku, Tsukada Nojo, and Isomaru Suisan—offering everything from grilled chicken skewers to fresh seafood at great prices.
Alongside the food, izakayas are known for their wide selection of drinks, including beer, shochu, and sake. It’s an ideal spot to unwind and enjoy good company after a day of sightseeing.
1. Kamakurayasai to Seiromushi Izakaya HANAICHI

If you’re craving izakaya vibes but want something lighter after a few days of indulgence, HANAICHI is a refreshing choice. This unique izakaya specializes in steamed dim sum dishes, offering a healthier twist on traditional fare.
Their standout item, “Kamakura Vegetable Steamed Dim Sum,” highlights fresh produce from the Kamakura region. Other dishes, like the three-layered steamer of Sagami pork, Kamakura sausage, and bacon, showcase local Kanagawa ingredients. Steaming preserves natural flavors and cuts down on oil—perfect for a wholesome, satisfying meal.
- This izakaya serves "Dassai," a well-known sake. For sake enthusiasts like me, this is definitely a plus. And, their "Dassai Steamed Abalone" is a standout dish and a must-try specialty!
- In addition to steamed dishes, the restaurant also offers seafood options like Misaki tuna. If you're looking to soothe your tired body and stomach with some healthy food during your journey, this restaurant is definitely the top choice!
