Summer is fireworks season in Japan, when people would normally don colorful yukata summer kimono and head out to one of the many giant fireworks festivals. And this year, you can enjoy some of the magic of Japanese fireworks right at home!

Enjoy Online! Saitama City #StayHome Fireworks Festival
Given the spread of Covid-19 around Japan, most of the summer festivals and fireworks displays have been canceled in 2021.
But Saitama City, just north of Tokyo, came up with a fun way to keep the tradition going!
Although this year's Saitama City Fireworks Festival will be held without spectators, it will be done in a manner where people all around the world can enjoy.
Fireworks were set off for around five minutes at locations around the city and filmed. To discourage crowds from forming, the exact times, dates, and locations were kept secret.
You can enjoy a broadcast of the fireworks from the comfort of your own home from 6:30 pm JST on Saturday, August 28 on Television Saitama and on the Saitama Tourism and International Relations Bureau's YouTube channel.
It's a great way to put some spark into your weekend, and enjoy a taste of Japan, wherever you are at home!
