Roses have long been known as the “Queen of Flowers,” cherished by royalty and aristocrats around the world. One of the most famous figures is Joséphine, Napoleon’s wife, whose extensive collection helped shape the development of modern roses.

At Keisei Rose Garden, that legacy continues. The garden functions as a living showcase of rose culture, where visitors can see how varieties have evolved over time while enjoying them at their seasonal peak.

Previously limited to autumn, this observatory appears for the first time during the spring rose season. From a height of around 3 meters, the Queen of Hearts Observatory offers a clear, elevated view over the garden. At peak bloom, the roses spread out like a multicolored carpet, making this one of the best photo spots in the park.

The Parade Returns with Music and Dance

The formal garden becomes the stage for a lively parade featuring dancers, characters, and a marching band. Set to a 12-song medley inspired by Alice in Wonderland, the performance moves through the garden, drawing visitors into the atmosphere as it passes. It’s one of the most energetic moments of the day.

One of the defining sights of spring is the series of rose arches, available only during this season. There are 38 arches across the garden, each covered in climbing roses that bloom in sequence. As you walk beneath them, layers of color and fragrance surround you, creating a continuous tunnel of flowers that changes subtly from one arch to the next.

Keisei Rose Garden offers more than scenic views. It also includes interactive attractions that add variety to your visit. On Alice Tours, you ride an electric-assist pedal vehicle along a guided 12-minute route through a wooded area. Along the way, you’ll pass through features like a mist-filled tunnel, water play zones, and themed encounters, making it especially fun for families or anyone looking for a more active experience.

Dream Magic Hour: The Garden After Sunset

As the day winds down, the atmosphere shifts. On select evenings (May 23, May 30, and June 6), the garden remains open until 8 PM, offering a different way to experience the space.

During magic hour, just after sunset, the light softens and the garden becomes noticeably calmer.

The roses take on deeper tones, and the texture of each petal becomes more visible. It’s one of the best times for photography, especially for those looking to capture a quieter, more atmospheric side of the garden.

Inside the greenhouse, a 6-meter-wide dome installation by the art group MirrorBaller creates a softly illuminated environment where light reflects across mirrored surfaces and surrounding flowers.

Nearby, the Brilliant Tree merry-go-round releases soap bubbles into the air, adding movement and a slightly surreal touch to the space.
