伊勢神宮・内宮

Description

This shrine has enshrined the goddess Amaterasu-Omikami for more than 2000 years. The sanctuary sits on the banks of the Isuzu river with the main palace and many other smaller shrines lined up, built following ancient Japanese architectural style. Once every twenty years, a new shrine is constructed and the enshrined objects are moved into the new shrine.
