Toyo'uke-daijingu (Geku)

伊勢神宮・外宮

Description

This shrine is where Toyouke-no-Okami, the deity of well-being and the three essentials of human life: food, clothing, and shelter, is enshrined. At the base of the sanctuary for Takakurayama, many shrines, such as Goseiden and Taka-no-miya, stand in a row and are surrounded by large cedar trees. Once every twenty years, a new shrine is constructed and the enshrined objects are moved into the new shrine.
