The newly launched haunted house is officially named "The Scariest Haunted House Ever ~ Kyoto Kitan: Ichijo-modoribashi Bridge ~" (史上最恐のお化け屋敷 ～京都奇譚 一条戻橋～).

To perfectly recreate the terrifying atmosphere of the legend, Toei Studio Park pulled out all the stops. The entire space has been given a complete makeover, with the art team from Toei Kyoto Studios—the very people who create films—personally taking charge to build authentic, lifelike sets.

Add in the professional actors’ spine-chillingly realistic performances, and you’ll feel like you’ve tumbled straight into a real horror movie.

Too scared for haunted houses, but still dying to give it a try? No worries—this time, Toei Studio Park has thoughtfully introduced its first-ever "3-Level Horror Selection System," letting you pick your fright level based on your own courage.

If you’re a beginner who normally can’t stomach horror films, or a visitor bringing the family along, you can choose the Level 1 "Mild Fright (Beginner)" route to soak up the atmosphere with peace of mind.

If you want to experience the classic horror experience, Level 2 "Medium Fright (Intermediate)" is the way to go. For daredevils chasing the ultimate scare, take on the Level 3 "Extreme Fright (Advanced)" route—guaranteed to scare you out of your wits.

Ready to put your courage to the test? "The Scariest Haunted House Ever ~ Kyoto Kitan: Ichijo-modoribashi Bridge ~" officially opens on August 11, 2026—a public holiday that also happens to fall on "Butsumetsu," the unluckiest day in the Japanese calendar.

The haunted house experience costs 800 yen, with Toei Studio Park admission required separately.

Regular hours run from 10 AM with last entry at 5:30 PM. However, from August 11 to 16, hours will be specially extended for a last entry at 8:30 PM, giving you the chance to brave an even eerier nighttime experience.

Want something a little different for Halloween this year? In its first autumn since the park renovation, Uzumasa Kyoto Village will host the third edition of the "Kaikai YOKAI Festival" (怪々YOKAI祭) from September 12 to November 29!

This year’s theme is "Dance!! It’s Spine-Chilling!" The park has specially invited choreographer TERUPOP to blend Japan’s traditional yokai (spirits) with lively modern dance culture.

Together, they are turning the entire Edo-era street into a grand entertainment stage for the yokai—creating a brand-new "Japanese-Style Halloween" found only at Uzumasa Kyoto Village.

The event’s headline highlight, the "Hyakki Yako YOKAI Parade," offers completely different surprises by day and by night.

During the day, you can join the parade yourself, get up close with the yokai, or take part in this year’s all-new "Yokai ☆ Dance Live!" Guests can follow the yokai host through simple, super-catchy dance moves that kids and adults alike will love.

Come nightfall, the Hyakki Yako transforms into a stunningly powerful stage performance, ending with a finale where everyone is invited to join in a "dance of the demons." When you visit Kyoto this autumn, don’t miss this lively, one-of-a-kind yokai party!
