As the weather gets warmer and signs of spring surround us, anticipation for the cherry blossom, or sakura, season begins! While holding outdoor viewing parties this year is difficult, cute and stylish sakura-themed drinks and sweets allow you to bring authentic cherry blossom charm into your home.
With famous brands including Starbucks releasing a limited springtime menu, sakura magic will brighten up your life and add luster to your home. Here are our top recommendations for sakura drinks and sweets in 2021!
The Starbucks Sakura Latte - Available at Home For the First Time!
After much demand, Nestlé Japan has released two versions of Starbucks’ brand-new ‘Sakura Strawberry Latte’ for home-use! Despite being an American company, Starbucks has gone to great lengths to pay tribute to Japanese culture, which is exemplified best during the ‘Starbucks Sakura Season.’ While every year sees the release of sakura-related drinks, this year is the first time a home-use packet version has been available.
The Sakura Strawberry Latte combines lavish sweetness with the same 100% arabica coffee Starbucks boasts in their stores. With a light, bubbly texture and delightful taste, it’s a coffee lover’s dream!
As seen in the picture above, the sakura season Starbucks Premium Mix range is easily brewed with just the addition of hot water. These handy sticks provide a quick Starbucks fix while on the job or at home!
For those with a coffee pod machine, sakura and strawberry Nescafé Dolce Gusto pods are also available. You can blend and mix the flavors as you like, allowing you to make your ideal coffee!
At the same time, Starbucks will be releasing the ‘Starbucks Seasonal Collection: Spring,’ which includes 4 packs of the ‘Starbucks Origami Personal Drip Coffee: Spring Blend,’ a ‘Starbucks Reusable Cup,’ along with the classy ‘Sakura Cloth,’ which can be used as a picnic rug or table cloth. Patisserie KIHACHI’s Springtime Mont Blanc and Swiss Rolls - The Ultimate Sakura Treat!
With cakes, sweets, swiss rolls, and a whole bunch more, Japan’s Patisserie KIHACHI specializes in a fantastic range of delectable delights. Branching out into the suburbs of Tokyo, along with major cities such as Osaka and Nagoya, their colorful creations have caught the eye of Japanese sweet-tooths in recent years.
Every year, Patisserie KIHACHI’s most sought-after spring sweets are the ‘Mont Blanc SAKURA’ and the ‘SAKURA Roll.’ Eager fans will be pleased to know they will be returning in 2021!
The Mont Blanc SAKURA takes their beloved Mont Blanc dessert and upgrades it with a dollop of flowery seasonal magic. Atop the mellow white-bean milk cream sits a mountain of light pink melt-in-your-mouth buttercream boasting the faint fragrance of sakura.
Further adding to the spring connection, the crunchy streusel base (a biscuit made from flour, butter, and sugar) has been infused with a helping of sakura leaves while a dainty sakura petal crowns the top, completing the masterpiece.
Decorated with even more sakura leaves and petals, the SAKURA Roll is arguably the master of spring desserts! Strawberry cream and cheese mousse are wrapped in a pink soufflé bursting with raspberry juice encompassed by cherry blossom aromas. The sweetness is subtly enhanced by smooth anko paste with a drop of brandy, culminating in a dynamic burst of springtime goodness. The sakura leaves and petals, which were pickled in salt water, add the final touch with a subtle yet highly pleasing fragrance.
