1. Hokkaido Mashike-Gyoko Chokuso Endosuisan Honten: For All-You-Can-Eat Crab Legs!
At this izakaya, you can taste fresh seafood from Mashike Town located on the side of Sea of Japan. The sashimi made from Alaskan pink shrimp and Botan shrimp caught in Mashike is super popular.
There is a water tank at the restaurant’s entrance and live crab and fish are sold at market prices. You can also choose which one you want and have it prepared just the way you like. The retro Showa era interior gives a calm atmosphere.
A popular plan for visitors is the all-you-can-eat snow crab plan. It's among the top crab restaurants in Sapporo, starting from 2 people and costs 8,000 yen per person with a time limit of 120 minutes.
The plan also comes with kani miso (crab tomalley), snow crab salad, 5 kinds of assorted sashimi with horsehair crab, grilled red king crab, crab stick sushi and crab miso soup. This premium plan includes all-you-can-drink beer, cocktails and Kunimare, a local sake from Mashike.
They also have the 10,000 yen all-you-can-eat three major crabs plan. With this you can eat all the snow crab, red king crab and horsehair crab and 8 other dishes such as the grilled red king crab and Hokkaido seafood hotpot with crabs. This also includes the premium all-you-can-drink plan.
They also have a show on the stage every day, excluding Wednesday, from 7:00 pm. On Saturdays they have a tuna carving show, and on Thursdays and Sundays they have a shamisen and folk song show.

2. Ebi Kani Gassen: Crab Restaurant in Sapporo Offering an All-you-can-eat Menu!
Ebi Kani Gassen is located on the 12th floor of a building that is two blocks to the west from the popular Susukino Crosswalk. This place is recommended for people who want to eat crab and shrimp until your heart is content. The all-you-can-eat plans require at least two people and lasts 90 minutes.
Plan A includes all-you-can-eat snow crab legs and horsehair crab with side orders of small shrimp tempura, shrimp sushi, crab sushi, shrimp tempura sushi and chawanmushi (egg custard dish) for 6,500 yen. Plan B includes red king crab (additional orders will be blue king crabs) and snow crab legs and the same side dishes as plan A for 6,500 yen.
If you just want to eat only crabs there is an all-you-can-eat three types of crab plan for 7,000 yen with no side dishes (the version with side dishes costs the same).
Also, you can add an all-you-can-drink plan for 1,300 yen more.
The horsehair crab comes out as a whole. If it’s your first time to have this particular delight, the staff will be more than happy to show how to eat it - plus there is a chart which explains the process so you won’t miss any of the delectable bits of meat!

3. Hokkaido Shokuichiba Maruumiya: Everything From Seafood to Local Delicacies!
Maruumiya is an izakaya located in the complex directly connected to JR Sapporo Station. Popular with local office workers, they offer seafood dishes such as crab and oysters at very reasonable prices.
Since they are open until 5:00 am, you can forget about the time and enjoy your food and drink. Also for lunch they offer larger portioned local delicacy.
A great aspect of this store is that you can eat horsehair crab all year round without reservations. The Hama Yude Kegani no Sugata Tsukuri (whole crab boiled) is 2,570 yen for one crab.
The red king crab legs assorted dish, Tarabagani 200g is 2,470 yen, large size 400g is 4,190 yen, and extra-large size 600g is 5,054 yen. They also have grilled red king crab legs, Tarabagani no Aburi Yaki 200g for 2,570 yen.
Another popular ingredient is oysters. They use the famous in Japan oyster brand Maruemon from the Akkeshi located in the eastern part of Hokkaido. The popular oyster dish is the Kaki no Gangan Mushi (steamed oyster) 5pc for 2,138 yen.
Gangan Mushi is a fisherman’s cooking method where they steam the oysters in a tin can. They also have various kinds of fresh sashimi and we recommend the Oke Mori, where an assortment of sashimi is placed and presented in a wooden bucket.
Other popular dishes on the menu are the Maruumiya Seafood Salad with lots of Crab 1,708 yen, eastern Hokkaido Rausu Hokke no Hiraki (hokke cut in half and dried) for 1,058 yen.
They also have rice dishes such as assorted seafood donburi (rice bowls) 1,058 yen and up, rice ball with sea urchin Unigiri 734 yen, plus sushi and ramen. For lunch, they have regional delicacies such as Supa-Katsu from Kushiro (spaghetti with pork cutlet and meat sauce) 880 yen, Furano Omucurry (omelet curry) 920 yen.
The store has 250 seats including hori-gotatsu, tables, booths and private rooms, which can accommodate different types of groups. Since it is directly connected to the station, you don’t have to worry about the weather and can visit anytime during your trip.

4. Kyoudo Ryoritei Suginome: Crab Kaiseki Cuisine in Sapporo!
A long-standing crab restaurant in Sapporo established in 1963. This former stone warehouse restaurant offers many dishes using crab and other fresh Hokkaido ingredients!
They offer two types of kaiseki ryori (Japanese style banquet course meal): Kani Kaiseki and Kyodo Kaiseki (local cuisine). Kani Kaiseki has the Youtei 10-item course for 10,000 yen (tax and service charge separate) and the Ooyuki 11-item course for 15,000 yen (tax and service charge separate).
The course includes dishes such as 1/4 of a medium Hamayude Kegani, assorted seafood sashimi, crab salad, grilled red king crab, and deep-fried crab shell. The Ooyuki course includes a snow crab and kelp gratin.
The Kyodo Kaiseki price range is 7,000 - 15,000 yen (tax and service charge separate). All courses include horsehair crab.
*Service charges are 15% for private rooms, 10% for counter seats. Private seat costs 1,000 yen (tax not included).
Their dishes use various fresh ingredients delivered from the market daily. For horsehair crabs they offer boiled, Koura Yaki (crab tomalley grilled in the shell), and Kegani no Mizuarai (fresh raw crab meat washed in ice water). For red king crab they offer it grilled.
The Kegani no Mizuarai requires a reservation two days in advance. Since it is raw and extremely fresh, the flavor is something truly special.
The store has 9 different themed rooms such as room with a fire place, antiques and a tea ceremony style room. They have rooms that can seat 2 to 23 people.

5. Sapporo Kani-ya: Specialty Crab Restaurant Located in the Center of Susukino
From the 2nd basement floor to the 7th floor, the store has a total of 550 seats.
They also have various types of private rooms, which are perfect for all sizes of groups. Their menu consists of crab dishes using snow crab, red king crab and horsehair crabs, Japanese dishes, and others using ingredients from Hokkaido.
For crab dishes the main courses are Kani Suki, Kani Chiri, Kani Shabu, and their signature dish is the Kani Kaiseki. For Kani Suki, you can choose snow crab or red king crab, which is stewed in a hot pot with vegetables and special broth. For Kani Chiri, you can also choose which crab you want, the crab and vegetables are stewed in a kelp broth and eaten with a special ponzu sauce. Snow crab Kani Suki / Kani Chiri is 4,320 yen per person and red king crab is 5,400 yen per person. The snow crab Suki course starts from 5,940 yen and red king crab Suki course starts from 9,720 yen.
The course only available at the Sapporo store, Asarigawa 10,260 yen includes 9 items such as crab tofu, boiled horsehair crab (half portion. Additional 2,100 yen to change to a full crab), zuwaigani shabu, snow crab sashimi, and Zousui (rice and vegetable porridge). This course is recommend for people who want to enjoy crab shabu shabu.
If you would like to have various crab dishes, we recommend the Kani Kaiseki. The Yudekani Kaiseki, only available at Sapporo store, comes with a boiled crab and has 3 courses ranging from 7,560 yen to 15,120 yen. The Nosappu course 10,044 yen comes with 11 dishes such as snow crab sashimi, boiled horse hair crab (half portion. Additional 2,100 yen to change to a full crab), crab tofu, grilled crab tomalley, snow crab paper hotpot, deep fried crab shell, ikura gohan (salmon roe and rice). This is a perfect course for anyone who wants to eat crab until their heart is content.
They also have a la carte crab dishes such as assorted crab sushi (7 pieces) and snow crab sushi (7 pieces) for 1,674 yen each.
