This year’s Halloween lineup goes all-in on scares, mixing street horror, immersive mazes, and major IP collaborations into one seriously intense experience. If you come to USJ for the adrenaline, these are the attractions you will not want to miss.
1. The Biggest Zombie Invasion Yet! USJ Turns Into a Wild After-Dark Party

- Get ready for a full-scale zombie takeover. This year features the largest number of zombies in the event’s history, along with a chilling new storyline in which students looking forward to their school festival become infected and transform into rampaging “High School Zombies,” attacking unsuspecting guests across the park.

- The moment the sun goes down, the atmosphere changes dramatically. Zombies dressed as high school students, cheerleaders, and other characters begin appearing across much of the park, sometimes surrounding guests with little warning. The detailed makeup and unsettling movements are already intense, but eerie sound effects and even disturbing scents make the experience feel surprisingly immersive. Kids are not the only ones likely to get scared here, so nervous adults should stay alert too!

- This is where Halloween Horror Nights turns into a full-on street party. King Gnu’s “SO BAD” once again gets the crowd moving, while the final performance each day features a medley of past Halloween favorites, including Ado’s “Show” and J SOUL BROTHERS III’s “Rat-tat-tat.” For a few minutes, you might even forget you are surrounded by zombies and start dancing right along with them.

- The show takes you on a wild trip through 15 years of USJ Halloween history, with fan-favorite horror characters making one dramatic entrance after another. Alongside the weirdly adorable Hamikuma, new characters LOLLI and POP also join the lineup this year. Add three of USJ Halloween’s most addictive party tracks, and before long the entire crowd is dancing along with the cast. Loud, chaotic, and ridiculously fun.
2. Push Your Limits: Terrifying Mazes & 4-D Horror Experiences

- Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the BIOHAZARD series, this all-new experience throws guests into a terrifying new storyline. - This was the first attraction we tackled, and the scare level was an easy five out of five. Because you have to physically walk through the maze, the monsters coming at you from every direction can genuinely stop you in your tracks. The sets are incredibly immersive, making it feel like you have stepped straight into the nightmare world of BIOHAZARD. And when the hero finally swoops in to save the day near the end, the relief is almost emotional.

- There is nowhere to run in this claustrophobic horror experience. Guests are led deep into a sinister “zombie factory,” where the creatures keep closing in and the sense of helplessness builds with every step. It is less a simple walkthrough and more a guided descent into pure panic.
- LIVE JAPAN’s Take
- This was easily the scariest attraction of the day. Scare level: six out of five. There is a short explanation in Japanese at the beginning, but you do not need to understand Japanese to enjoy the experience. From the moment you enter the factory until the second you escape, there is almost no chance to relax, with zombies lunging out from every direction and even a few unexpected interactive moments waiting near the end.

- This 4-D attraction brings the wildly popular Chainsaw Man anime to life, plunging guests into a bloody, high-intensity battle against terrifying devils with effects happening all around you.
- LIVE JAPAN’s Take
- The 4-D effects are fantastic. At first, it looks like you are in for a cheerful action movie starring the cute original character Smiley, but things quickly take a very unexpected turn. We would rate the scare factor at around two out of five. Even without having seen the Chainsaw Man anime beforehand, it is easy to get swept up in the frantic battles, and the surprisingly powerful seat movements make the whole experience feel even more intense.

- Highlights
- Created in collaboration with popular cosmetics brand KATE, this immersive experience is all about “unleashing your emotions.” Inside a mirror-filled Western-style mansion inhabited by four witches, guests are guided through an emotion diagnosis before receiving a personalized makeup recommendation. New this year are tips for men and makeup beginners, making it easier for anyone to discover a completely different side of themselves.

- The four witches, each representing joy, anger, sadness, and pleasure, personally coach guests on the expressions that suit them best and even help take special photos, which can be downloaded afterward. At the end, you can try KATE makeup products for yourself and even take home samples. Before leaving, make sure to stop for photos in the surreal mirrored corridor, which is easily one of the most photogenic parts of the experience.
3. After Dark Only?! Popular USJ Rides Get a Halloween Makeover
Once the sun goes down, some of USJ’s familiar attractions transform into completely different experiences, with darker themes, added scares, and a much more intense atmosphere.

- Back for the first time since 2023, this horror ride sends guests racing through total darkness under Sadako’s curse. With almost no visibility and no way to anticipate what comes next, the unpredictable motion and sudden drops make the experience even more unnerving.

- This was our first time trying the attraction, despite its return after three years, and it was seriously intense. Most people know Sadako’s terrifying story, but experiencing it as a pitch-black indoor coaster is something else entirely. Not being able to see what is ahead makes every turn and drop hit harder, while the feeling that Sadako is closing in keeps the tension high throughout. Even the Sadako display outside the entrance is surprisingly creepy, so consider yourself warned before walking past.

- After sunset, this already suspenseful boat ride takes on a much darker edge. Surrounded by deeper darkness and heavy fog, guests are thrown into an even more dangerous-feeling encounter, and when the massive shark strikes, the water and surrounding area are drenched in an eerie blood-red glow.
- LIVE JAPAN’s Take
- The route and storyline are mostly the same as during the day, but the nighttime version feels dramatically more intense. With the lagoon glowing red and the lighting effects adding extra tension, the whole ride becomes far creepier after dark. When the giant shark suddenly lunges out through the crimson light, it is a genuine jump-scare moment. If you ride JAWS in the daytime, this is absolutely one worth coming back for at night.

Part 2: Halloween Fun for Families, Without the Frights
Not looking to spend the day screaming? No worries. During the daytime and in designated areas, USJ is still packed with cheerful Halloween fun, making it a great choice for families with young children.

Can you guess which classic characters they are dressed as? Whether you are visiting with kids or just love the Minions, this is a great chance to snap some memorable Halloween photos.

- Keep an eye out for Crew members carrying special black cat or pumpkin bags. Say the magic words “Trick-or-Treat!” and you can score a free piece of candy. This year’s treats also come in limited-edition wrappers featuring different characters and even several flavors, making them surprisingly tempting to collect.
2. More Autumn & Winter Fun: Super Nintendo World’s 5th Anniversary & the Return of the Hogwarts Castle Walk

Part 3: Visiting With Kids? How to Avoid the Zombies at USJ Halloween
Traveling with young children, older family members, or someone who really does not enjoy horror? Keep this survival guide handy so you can enjoy USJ’s Halloween atmosphere without getting caught in the middle of a zombie invasion.
Know When the Zombies Come Out
At 6 PM each evening, announcements and warning sirens signal the start of Street Zombie. From that point on, zombies begin roaming many of the park’s main areas, including Hollywood, New York, and Jurassic Park, with only designated safe zones remaining zombie-free.
Where Are the Safe Zones?
USJ sets aside several zombie-free areas where families can retreat after 6 PM. If you are visiting with young children or simply want a break from the scares, these are some of the best places to head:
1. Universal Wonderland
Home to Snoopy, Sesame Street, and Hello Kitty, Universal Wonderland stays cheerful and zombie-free, making it one of the easiest places for families to relax after dark.
2. Super Nintendo World
Apparently even zombies cannot get into Mario’s world. Super Nintendo World remains free from the Street Zombie invasion, though timed-entry tickets may be required depending on crowd conditions that day.
3. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
The Wizarding World is another safe haven where you can enjoy the evening without worrying about zombies suddenly appearing around the corner.
How to Leave the Park Without Running Into Zombies
If you plan to leave after 6 PM but want to avoid the scares, check the park’s designated “Safe Route.” USJ generally provides a zombie-free route toward the entrance using designated pathways or sections around the Hollywood Boulevard shopping area. You can also ask a Crew member for the nearest “Safe Route” to make your exit as scream-free as possible.
Part 4: Skip the Long Lines! USJ Halloween Tickets, Express Passes & VIP Tours
Halloween is one of the busiest times of year at USJ, and wait times for popular attractions can get seriously long.
