Due to the COVID-19 situation, virtually all travel plans have been put on hold. But until we can travel again, this is the perfect time to put together some travel ideas and craft the ideal itinerary for your next trip to Japan!
Most outdoor places are currently closed right now, but to help you get started on planning your next trip, we have compiled five locations with breathtaking views you can visit when they reopen, with accompanying videos taken last year you can check out!
- Table of Contents
1. Be Mesmerized by the Vibrantly Colored Flowers at Showa Memorial Park
If you love flowers as much as we do, Showa Memorial Park has much in store for you in every season. A popular Tokyo day trip destination that's filled with a variety of sports facilities, gardens, ponds, and food establishments, the park is a popular choice for flower viewing when spring comes around. In spring, not only will you get to enjoy the sakura, but you will also get to see the tulips in full bloom too!

Located in Chiba Prefecture, the Isumi Line is a railway line that runs from Ōhara Station in Isumi, Chiba Prefecture to Kazusa-Nakano Station in Ōtaki. Although the railway line is situated outside Tokyo, the experience of riding these old-fashioned trains through the beautiful scenery of the countryside of Chiba makes it worth a visit!
3. Explore Nature at Hirosaki Park, Aomori Prefecture
Hirosaki City in Aomori Prefecture, located in the northern part of Japan's main island, is where you will find lush nature. It is home to Hirosaki Castle, hiking trails, lakes, and waterfalls! Seasonal festivals are also a key attraction here, so this is a must-go for nature lovers! Check out the Sakura Festival in Hirosaki in the video.

4. Fuji Shibazakura Festival at Mt. Fuji
Even though this event has been canceled this year, you can look forward to future iterations! The popular Fuji Shibazakura Festival held at Fuji Motosuko Resort at the base of Mt. Fuji is usually held from around April to May when the shibazakura (moss phlox) flowers are in full bloom.
5. Witness A Sea of Blue Nemophila at Hitachi Seaside Park
If the Fuji Shibazakura Festival boasts a sea of pink shibazakura, the Nemophila Harmony event at Hitachi Seaside Park in Ibaraki Prefecture has a beautiful sea of blue nemophila to offer. These flowers typically bloom from around late April to mid-May. There are other seasonal flowers you can find in Hitachi Seaside Park but the nemophila are no doubt the most famous and popular of them all!
