May 5th is Children's Day in Japan. On this day, koinobori, carp-shaped windsocks, are hoisted as a part of a ritual wishing the healthy growth of children.
In the past, it was a Japanese springtime tradition to place these windsocks in front of the home. Recently, however, there have been events held in tourist spots around Tokyo where you can watch koinobori swim energetically in the sea of the sky.
Here we will introduce three carefully selected Children’s Day events held during Golden Week that everyone from children to adults can enjoy.
*Due to the declaration of a state of emergency, some events have been canceled or postponed. Please check the official event websites for detail.
