Traveling to Japan in 2026? How would you like to step off the train straight into a pastel dream filled with Hello Kitty, Cinnamoroll, My Melody, and their friends?
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Sanrio Puroland, its nearest station, Odakyu Tama Center Station, is undergoing a massive transformation. The entire station is being reborn as a rainbow-colored “Yume-Kawaii” world, turning an everyday commute into a full-on Sanrio experience.
From the moment you arrive, the station itself feels like the start of the theme park. Below, we break down what’s changing and how travelers can enjoy it to the fullest, without wasting time or money.
From 4 Characters to 14: A Major Sanrio Upgrade

The station has featured Sanrio designs for years, but this renewal is on another level entirely.
Instead of just four characters, 14 Sanrio favorites now appear throughout the station. Look closely and you’ll spot Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, Kuromi, Little Twin Stars, and more hiding across digital signboards, ceilings, pillars, and even subtle background details. Waiting for your train becomes a scavenger hunt, and every corner offers a photo opportunity.
Concept: "Yume-Kawaii" x Rainbow

The previous calm blue-and-white look has been completely replaced. The new design leans into soft pastels, rainbows, and playful color gradients. Every angle is photogenic, making this one of the most camera-ready stations in Japan. If you love cute design and social-friendly visuals, this stop alone is worth the visit.
A Fan Favorite Spot: The West Exit’s Key Visual

One absolute must-see is the giant key visual beside the West Exit ticket gates.
This exclusive mural shows all 14 Sanrio characters holding Odakyu train-shaped passports as they head toward Sanrio Puroland. It’s a one-of-a-kind design you won’t find anywhere else, and an easy photo stop before leaving the station.
Cute and Easy to Navigate: A Station Designed for Travelers

With so many characters, you might expect navigation to be confusing. Thankfully, the redesign is also smart.
Stairs and escalators are color-coded by direction and destination. For example, pink routes lead toward platforms, while blue routes guide you back to ticket gates. Even if you do not read Japanese, the layout makes it easy to understand where to go at a glance.
This balance of playful design and clear wayfinding makes the station especially friendly for first-time visitors, families, and international travelers.
Let the Journey Become Part of the Fun!

In February 2026, Odakyu Tama Center Station becomes more than a station. It becomes the opening scene of your Sanrio adventure.
That moment when you step off the train and think, “Wow, this is amazing,” is exactly what this renewal is designed to deliver. And yes, Hello Kitty and friends are already waiting for you.
