The Flower Relay event in Yokohama heralds the arrival of spring in the city. The event is held in two locations: the "Waterfront City Area" which includes Yamashita Park and the "Sato-yama Garden" adjacent to the Yokohama Zoological Gardens Zoorasia. From May onwards, various flowers such as roses and lilies bloom in the Waterfront City Area, passing the baton like in a relay race. At the Sato-yama Garden, the largest flower bed in Yokohama, covering about 10,000 square meters, is created, featuring around 300,000 white-colored flowers such as pansies, violas, and nemophila grown locally in Yokohama.

During the event period, a moving "AR Giant Garden Bear" appears on the sea of Yokohama. There are also participatory events that utilize smartphones, such as a digital stamp rally that introduces highlights of the event and tourist facilities.
