After a five-year hiatus, the groundbreaking Japanese fireworks entertainment program, STAR ISLAND, is returning to Tokyo in 2024. Launched in 2017, STAR ISLAND updates the traditional art of Japanese fireworks with modern, sustainable entertainment. Since its inception, it has captivated audiences worldwide, including in Singapore and Saudi Arabia, with over 15 million attendees across seven performances. This year, STAR ISLAND will make a spectacular comeback to its original venue in Odaiba, Tokyo, promising an unforgettable experience for all, with 3D sound and laser shows, outstanding fireworks, and Star People. Adachi Fireworks Festival 2024 (July 20)
The Adachi Fireworks Festival is Tokyo's early-bird fireworks show, marking the opening of the fireworks season. Katsushika Noryo Fireworks Festival (July 23)

Sumida River Fireworks Festival 2024 (July 27)
The Sumida River Fireworks Festival is Tokyo's oldest and most iconic fireworks show. Dating back to 1733, this historic event draws thousands of visitors every year and is even broadcasted on TV.
And, in fact, you may have already seen this majestic event at the museum without realizing it! "Fireworks at Ryōgoku" is a stunning depiction of a vibrant summer festival in Edo, captured with Hiroshige's signature style in the ninety-eighth print of his acclaimed series.
The festival takes place along the Sumida River, with two main venues stretching from the Sakurabashi Bridge downstream to Kototoibashi Bridge upstream, and from Komagata Bridge downstream to Umayabashi Bridge upstream.
Venue 1 is famous for the competition between two rivaling guilds of pyrotechnicians, who showcase their incredible skills in a colorful and mesmerizing display. The masterful craftsmanship and precision of each fireworks display are breathtaking, and the friendly competition between the guilds adds an extra layer of excitement to the event.
Meanwhile, Venue 2 features a stunning display of over 20,000 fireworks, creating a magical atmosphere that lights up the night sky.

Itabashi Fireworks Festival 2024 (August 3)
The Itabashi Fireworks Festival is actually two festivals held simultaneously in different neighborhoods, with one in Itabashi Ward in Tokyo and the other across the Arakawa River in Toda City in Saitama Prefecture. With approximately 12,000 fireworks launched, the festival is a spectacular display of pyrotechnics.
The festival boasts a number of main attractions, including the huge shakugosundama – colorful balls that measure 45 centimeters in diameter. The star mines are also a highlight, launching a massive amount of pyrotechnics into the sky in a short period of time.
The festival's pièce de résistance, however, is Kanto's largest Niagara-type fireworks display, spanning an impressive 700 meters horizontally across the night sky.

Edogawa Fireworks Festival (August 24)
