Description
Built some 1,700 years ago, Kumano Nachi Taisha Grand Shrine is located near Nachi Falls. The six main halls enshrine 12 gods. The main deity is Kumano Fusumi-no-Okami, who is said to have given power to all natural life. The temple is well-known as a site for practicing Kumano asceticism, and as one of temples on the Saigoku Kannon pilgrimage.
