Description
Kamikura Shrine's object of worship is a massive boulder called Gotobiki-iwa that juts out from the ledge. Gotobiki-iwa is said to be where Kumano's gods first descended. Kamikura Shrine is considered the original shrine, while Kumano Hayatama Taisha is considered the new shrine. Many bronze vessels from the Yayoi period have been discovered around the boulder.
