Description
Following the battle at Sekigahara, Ieyasu Tokugawa issued a decree to Naokatsu Ii and Naotaka Ii to build this castle, which was completed twenty years later in 1622. The castle possesses towers, national treasures, any many important cultural properties including the drum turret, the balance turret, and the Nishi-no-Maru three-story turret. The karahafu decoration on the hipped roof of the three-story castle tower itself is a sight to see.
