Description
Genkyuen Garden is a garden on the north side of Hikone Castle with a central pond and circular trail. It has been designated as a national area of scenic beauty. It was built in 1677 during the Enpo period by the fourth lord of Hikone Castle, Naoki. It was modeled after a palace garden from Tang China to become part of the Eight Views of Lake Biwa, which are modeled after the Eight Views of Xiaoxiang, China.
