Higashi-Tenno Okazaki-Jinja Shrine

東天王 岡崎神社

Description

Built to protect the city during the transfer of the capital from Nara to Kyoto. Since the empress used this shrine to pray for safe child birth, the shrine has become a place of worship for conception and safe childbirth. Rabbits are treated as a familiar of their deity, so there are many rabbit statues located throughout the premises.
