Description
Mt. Yotei stands 1,898 m tall and spans five towns and villages, including Hokkaido's iconic resort Niseko as well as Kutchan, Kyogoku, Kimobetsu, and Makkari. The mountain is also called Yezo Fuji owing to its resemblance to Mt. Fuji, and many sightseers visit to gaze upon its sublime silhouette.
Niseko is a hub for sightseeing. There are several locations spotting a stunning view around the area, though the observation deck on Niseko-Annupuri is the pick of the bunch. Take the gondola up from the base of the mountain to the observation deck, which is perched about 800 m above sea level. There's no better place than here for a panoramic view of Mt. Yotei; the volcanic cone rises majestically from the plains, contrasting the village streetscape in the foreground.
The region is a year-round drawcard. Winter blankets the region in Hokkaido's renowned fine powder snow. In the warmer months, activities such as canoeing, rafting, trekking, fishing, golfing, and horse riding abound.
The area bristles with accommodation, hosting many onsen (hot spring) hotels and resort hotels nearby.

Relish Dairy Sweets at the Foot of Mt. Yotei
The Takahashi Dairy Farm runs a sweet shop at the foot of Mt. Yotei. The dairy is fastidious about the quality of its milk, paying careful attention to all areas starting with the quality of soil in the pasture for its cattle to graze. There are many types of sweet treats that use fresh milk to enhance that flavors of their ingredients. The shop offers a wide assortment of sweets, including soft-serve ice cream and gelato with a refreshing aftertaste, cream puffs and roll cakes laden with cream, and yogurt drinks. The large site also includes an outdoor sports store, a restaurant, a cheese shop, a pizzeria, and other facilities. The dairy sweets taste particularly superb when coupled with the view of Mt. Yotei.
