Getting around Niseko is a question many have. The Niseko area is quite large. There is a limit to how much you can go on foot, such as going to the Hirafu area—popular with many visitors from abroad—and the Kutchan area, with its many dining facilities.
However, you still may want to go to popular restaurants and hot spring facilities, or go to Kutchan Town and visit where the locals go.
In order to navigate your way smoothly in Niseko, we recommend using the Niseko taxi and bus.
Niseko Taxi for Going Directly to Your Destination Unaffected by the Snow
With a lot of snowfall, you want to limit how much you walk in Niseko. Also for travelers with older guests or for those with young children, it is probably desirable to shorten your travel time. In this situation, the Niseko taxi is recommended.
In Niseko there are few taxi companies, however, that doesn’t mean that the taxi will arrive as soon as you call for one. It is better to figure out when you need a taxi and call for one beforehand.
Bus: Main Way to Get Around in Niseko
The main way for getting around Niseko is the bus. The Niseko Bus and Donan Bus go to various areas year-round. During the winter season, there are free shuttle busses such as the Hirafu Grand Shuttle, Hanazono Shuttle Bus, and others that go around the area.
Also if you have the lift ticket that is useable at all slopes in Niseko, you can utilize the Niseko United Shuttle all day for free.
However there are not many busses, and we recommend checking the schedule in advance.
