Right now, Tokyo Disney Resorts is in the middle of celebrating the park’s 35th birthday with an event called “Happiest Celebration!” That includes an all-new night entertainment and special, time-limited shows. On top of that, Tokyo Disneyland will host the Disney Natsu Matsuri (“Summer Festival”), taking you to a traditional Japanese summer festival, Disney-style. At Tokyo DisneySea, you can look forward to the Disney Pirates Summer that is all about Pirates of the Caribbean. Of course, there’ll be plenty of limited goods and food themed all around those fun events. Beat the heat with happiness at Tokyo Disney Resort’s fantastic events!
Disney Natsu Matsuri #1: Sansui! Summer Beat: Get Soaked in the Summer Heat! (Tokyo Disneyland)
Splashy fun is an ever-popular summer pastime, so Tokyo Disneyland will have its own with the “Sansui! Summer Beat” event. Five large floats will gather in front of Cinderella’s Castle and on the parade route, featuring ten Disney characters. The “Tokyo Disney Resort 35th Anniversary – Happiest Celebration!” theme song is arranged with traditional Japanese instruments such as drums and flutes, bringing an authentically traditional vibe to the fun. To these tunes, the Disney characters will soak the visitors with refreshing water, making use of hoses to beat the summer heat. This large amount of water will make you feel like you’re standing under a waterfall, so be sure to wear clothes that dry quickly (such as a swimsuit or rash guard). Alternatively, enjoy the fun while staying dry by wearing a raincoat. Also, be aware of any devices such as phones and cameras – if you don’t stow them away in a waterproof way, they might get damaged.
Event venue: Cinderella Castle (Castle Forecourt)
Duration: about 20 minutes (held 3 times a day)
Characters: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, Max, Chip, Dale, Clarice
Disney Natsu Matsuri #2: Special Event Food Themed on Japanese Temple Festivals! (Tokyo Disneyland)
Tokyo Disneyland boasts a plethora of limited food that is inspired by food carts and street vendors found at Japanese temple festivals during summer. The “grilled corn bread sandwich (pork & corn mayonnaise)” and the “peach jelly” look especially tasty – they come in a set with a drink at Sweetheart Café. Another delicious dish is the “special pepper-fried chicken and apple sandwich” in a set with French-fry potatoes and a drink at Tomorrowland Terrace. Get a taste of the Japanese summer and its festival season!

With loud voices and energetic dances, the pirate crew soaks visitors with a whole lot of water! Of course, Jack Sparrow is also part of the event, joining the battle of both fire and water!

Disney Pirates Summer #2: Epic Pirate Food Brings the Taste of Summer! (Tokyo DisneySea)
Pirates like to feast and drink and Tokyo DisneySea does not disappoint in that regard – look forward to a creative selection of pirate-inspired dishes! Café Portofino is all about Captain Jack Sparrow, while Mamma Biscotti's Bakery pays homage to the eerie Davy Jones. These savory snacks are sure to put you in a proper pirate mood!
Shrimp, mussels, and marinated squid come as a creative appetizer that resembles the Black Pearl, while linguine with a fruity tomato sauce and deep-fried calamari rings evoke an image of Captain Jack Sparrow and his crew. Fresh fruits with lemon jelly and a drink are included.
Everyone knows Davy Jones with this black hat and characteristic beard and Davy Jones’ Sandwich captures that image perfectly. Rice crackers dyed with squid ink reproduce his hat while the beard is represented by a big leaf of lettuce. The sandwich is filled with a spicy ratatouille of squid and shrimp. Peach jelly and a drink are included.
Disney Pirates Summer #3: Plunder Some Pirate-Themed Booty! (Tokyo DisneySea)
Tokyo DisneySea’s special Pirates Summer Battle event also brings some limited goodies! The merch that features Captain Jack Sparrow looks particularly cool in its hand-drawn design. Other Disney characters also don their pirate garb, so let’s get to looting!
