Trick or Treat: “Disney Halloween” comes back to Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea, taking place from September 8 (Fri.) to October 31 (Tue.)!
While the special Halloween parade and the parks’ decorations are their own amazing sight to behold, we’ll focus on the “treat” part of the trick-or-treat event today. Disney Japan is famous for its seasonal gourmet creations complementing every event in the parks, so follow us at LIVE JAPAN to eat our way through Disney’s top 7 Halloween snacks and drinks!
１．Pumpkin-Shaped Scallop Crème Croque-Bun
The name of the dish might be quite a mouthful, but the Pumpkin-Shaped Scallop Crème Croque-Bun is as delicious as it is adorable! Adorned with a ghastly grinning grimace, the buns are of a gentle sweetness that goes great with the crisply fried scallop croquette in between. We recommend ordering this spooky, yet oh so delicious treat in a set, served with fries and a drink. The Halloween decorations all around the restaurant will make the bun taste even better!
Sold at: Huey, Dewey & Louie’s / Tokyo Disneyland
Price: 990 yen for the special set, 610 yen for just the Pumpkin-Shaped Scallop Crème Croque-Bun
２．Jack Skellington Curry Bread
Of course, there can’t be any Disney Halloween without Jack Skellington, the one-and-only Pumpkin King from Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas! Snack on the charismatic troublemaker in the form of a flavorful “curry bread,” a fluffy bun filled with delicious curry.
If you order the special set, Jack Skellington Curry Bread is served with a pumpkin-flavored cinnamon roll, grape jelly, a soft drink of your choice, and a cool lunch case for you to take home! The air of the café is filled with the delicious smell of freshly baked bread, and other than Jack, there are a lot more bread varieties for you to try, so don’t hold back!
Sold at: Sweetheart Café / Tokyo Disneyland
Price: 1,860 yen for the special set
３．Ursula’s Spicy Shrimp & Pork Bun
The ukiwa-man, literally “life ring bun,” is one of Tokyo Disneyland’s most popular snacks. For Halloween, this classic delicacy becomes a lot more dangerous as it turns into the tentacles of The Little Mermaid’s Ursula! The threatening black-and-purple-colored bun is filled with spicy shrimp and pork, a juicy taste that we just cannot get enough of! Ursula’s Spicy Shrimp & Pork Bun is best enjoyed freshly made and piping hot and is just the right treat to keep you warm while walking around the park.
Sold at: Seaside Snacks / Tokyo DisneySea
Price: 500 yen for Ursula’s Spicy Shrimp & Pork Bun
４．Poisoned Apple Sandwich & Beer Potion
The Poisoned Apple Sandwich with cured ham and purple cabbage mimics the poisoned apple of Disney’s Snow White. This treat isn’t poisonous in the least, however! The savory ham and the crunchy cabbage, enhanced with cheese and sauce, make for a wonderful combination of fillings, sending you to sandwich heaven with every bite.
For big eaters, we recommend the set with French fries and a soft drink. What really complements this yummy sandwich, however, is the Beer Potion, beer infused with a bit of apple syrup. Cheers!
Sold at: New York Deli / Tokyo DisneySea
Price: 1,150 yen for the special set, 680 yen for the Beer Potion (Apple)
５．Queen of Hearts Gyoza Dog
The Gyoza Dog is fashioned after the Nautilus, the submarine in Jules Verne’s Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, and is another all-star of Tokyo DisneySea’s snacks. For Halloween, the treat dresses up as the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland and becomes the Queen of Hearts Gyoza Dog! Filled with plenty of minced meat and bamboo shoots, look forward to a filling snack that is both savory and sweet!
Sold at: Nautilus Galley / Tokyo DisneySea
Price: 550 yen
６．Maleficent’s Mixed Berry Sundae & Souvenir Cup
Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficent must not be missing when it comes to putting the spook in Halloween. For the occasion, the Mixed Berry Sundae has grown chocolate horns and comes in a souvenir cup adorned with a beautiful illustration of Maleficent herself. Look forward to an eerily delicious mix of soft serve, cornflakes, whipped cream, a jelly made of mixed berries, and the horns of one of Disney’s most iconic villains!
As a takeout-only dessert, the Mixed Berry Sundae is a perfect treat to indulge in while slowly strolling the park and taking in the Halloween atmosphere.
Sold at: Liberty Landing Diner / Tokyo Disney Sea
Price: 860 yen for the Mixed Berry Sundae & Souvenir Cup
７．Chocolate Tart à la Evil Queen & Souvenir Plate
During Disney’s Halloween, the delicious Chocolate Tart is also sold with a beautiful little souvenir plate, featuring Snow White’s Evil Queen. The tart is as delicious as the Queen is beautiful – the rich, sweet-and-sour chocolate harmonizes blissfully well with the mellow raspberry cream on top!
The hand-sized souvenir plate also bears the writing “Disney’s Halloween 2017” on one side, making it a wonderful memento of your spooky Halloween adventures in Tokyo.
Sold at: Zambini Brothers' Ristorante, Mamma Biscotti's Bakery, New York Deli, Yucatan Base Camp Grill, Casbah Food Court
Price: 750 yen for the Chocolate Tart & Souvenir Plate
More seasonal delights to taste and discover!
This selection of Disney’s Halloween 2017 desserts, drinks, and treats are just our top 7 choices.
Besides their amazing taste, the best thing about these Halloween dishes is that each of them tells its own little story, referring to a Disney character we all know and love – or are scared of, in some cases. And if you’re not familiar with a face you might encounter? Well, just ask the Disney staff for a spooky Halloween tale!
