The Mitsui clan is one of Japan's three great family dynasties of old Japan and this unique exhibition showcases the hina dolls of Mitsui women of several generations. One of the highlights are the gorgeous dolls and accessories of the only daughter of the eleventh heir of the Mitsui clan, Mitsui Takamiki. Made by the famous doll maker Maruhei Oki, established in the mid-Edo period, the dolls are a masterpiece of craftsmanship, Japanese aesthetics, and traditions.

Yayoi Kusama is one of Japan's most influential and famous contemporary artists - maybe even on a global level. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the National Art Center, this exhibition will showcase 130 choice works of Yayoi Kusama, based on her large-scale painting project My Eternal Soul that she has been working on since 2009. Additionally, her artistioc career will be showcased and explained, offering an in-depth look at the life of the famous artist and her amazing work.

This is the first time that the art of Théodore Chassériau, a grand master of French Romanticism, is showcased in such a large scale in Japan. Highlighting all stages of his only 37-year long life, this exhibition features about 90 works of the artist, with works from the Louvre at its core. In addition, famous works of Symbolists that have been greatly influenced by Chassériau, such as Pierre Puvis de Chavannes or Gustave Moreau.

The Alphonse Mucha Exhibition is held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and the Czech Republic in 2017. Alphonse Mucha is one of the most representative artists of the beautiful Art Noveau, often making the identity of the Slavic people of the Czech republic his theme. This exhibition focuses on Mucha's The Slav Epic, a cycle of 20 large paintings, each around 6m tall and 8m wide, that beautifully depicts the historiy of the Slavic people. It is the first time that the entire Epic is exhibited outside of the Czech Republic.

Beginning with Chojiro, the first head of the Raku family, the tradition of Raku ware has continued without interruption since the 16th century. For 450 years, the artistic traditions and skills of Raku were passed down from father to only one son while always reflecting on wabi, the philosophy of tea coined by tea master Sen no Rikyu. "The Cosmos in a Tea Bowl: Transmitting a Secret Art across Generations of the Raku Family" is an exhibition that showcases Raku ware throughout the centuries. Among them are many extraordinary bowls, such as one called Oguro made by Chojiro himself and loved by Sen no Rikyu. In total, around 160 bowls and folding screens can be admired, including works by Hon'ami Koetsu and other famous arists.

This exhibition showcases a select 370 of 80 million specimens of the United Kingdom's Natural History Museum, including flora, fauna, fossils, and minerals. Almost all of those choice exhibits can be admired in Japan for the first time, and the rich world of Mother Nature is further illustrated and showcased with explanatory videos. The Natural History Museum is usually known for its policy to not lend its exhibits to other places, so the Treasures of the Natural World exhibition, touring around the world, is the first of its kind. Japan's National Museum of Nature and Science serves as the very first location of this global exhibition.
