Bloom With Laughter! Unko Museum's Wild "Poo Sakura" Spring Event Is Back for 2026!
- Written by: LIVE JAPAN Editor
Cherry blossom season in Japan usually means delicate petals, riverside picnics, and pastel views. But this spring, things are getting a little… cheekier.
From March 5 to April 23, 2026, the wildly popular Unko Museum TOKYO and its sister locations in Nagoya and Okinawa will host a limited-time spring event called “Super Full Bloom!! Unko Sakura 2026.” Expect larger-than-life pink displays, interactive countdowns, and a blossom experience unlike anything you’ve seen before.
From the Country That Brought Us the Smiling Poop Emoji...
If you’re looking for a rainy-day-friendly cherry blossom activity, or simply want to add something hilariously unforgettable to your Japan itinerary, this is it.
In the early 2000s, Japan brought us the poop emoji, and in 2019, the Unko Museum debuted in Yokohama, billing itself as what was likely the world’s first amusement space dedicated entirely to poo, before relocating to Tokyo.
So what’s in store at the cozy Unko Museum? Your adventure begins with My Poop Maker, where you create your very own “poop buddy” to carry with you through the exhibits.
Next, witness the explosive spectacle of Poop Volcano, then pass under the glowing Poop-lingual Neon Gate, where “unko” shines in multiple languages. Overhead, creations drift playfully in Flying Poop, setting the tone for the museum’s anything-goes imagination.
High-energy zones keep things lively. Dance alongside animated characters in the Dancing Poop Room, test your aim in Poop Throwing, or try your hand at quirky challenges inside the Crappy Game Corner. At Let’s Draw Your Poop!, even a toilet becomes your canvas.
There is plenty of immersive fun, too. Cheer for your favorite racer in Poop Animal Derby, explore pop-style street art at U.G.A (Unko Graffiti Art), and step into surreal spaces like Limitless Poop and the sparkling Galaxy of Poop.
For playful photo ops, pose in The Princess of Poop, declare your affection in the Lovers’ Poop Room, or snap colorful shots at Poop Mart. You can also shout “UNKO!” at full volume, bounce through Hop! Step! Jumpoo!, and try to catch falling creations in Bear-Handed Poop Block.
With more than 2.5 million visitors to date, it has become one of Japan’s most talked-about indoor attractions, especially among families, friend groups, and curious travelers.
This Spring, Two “Poop Sakura” Blooms: Day & Night at the Unko Volcano

At the heart of the event is the museum’s iconic giant installation, the “Unko Volcano.”
During the event period, this massive centerpiece transforms into a sakura-themed spectacle. For the first time ever, visitors can help create not just one, but two different “Unko Sakura” blooms: a bright daytime full bloom and a glowing, illuminated night version.

After creating your very own custom creation at the “MY UNKO MAKER,” you’ll be welcomed by a volcano dressed in spring pink. When the countdown begins, it’s your cue to send your “poop power” into the volcano together with everyone in the room. As the energy builds, the sakura burst into full bloom before your eyes.
The experience then shifts into a light-up transformation, turning the display into a sparkling “night sakura” version. It’s playful, immersive, and surprisingly photogenic.
Dance With Blossoms in the “Love Unko Room”

Another seasonal highlight is the “Love Unko Room,” where colorful toilet installations meet drifting sakura visuals.
Sit down, relax, and let yourself be surrounded by a whimsical spring world filled with fluttering pink effects. It’s designed as a photo-friendly space, perfect for friends and families. Staff members are available to help snap your group photos, so no one has to miss out on the shot. (Please note that effects and decorations may vary slightly by location.)
Limited Spring-Only Goods

Spring wouldn’t be complete without seasonal souvenirs, and we all want a quirky souvenir from Japan. From March 5 to April 23, each museum shop will sell event-exclusive merchandise, including Spring Unko Stickers (350 yen each) and Capsule Toy Spring Unko Keychains (500 yen per spin). (Available while supplies last.)
