Ever heard of “Fuerza Bruta”?
In Spanish, the phrase literally means “brute force”—and it is actually the title of a participatory entertainment show that has mobilized over 5 million spectators around the world!
The power of this show—punctuated by both dynamic and calm scenes—unfolds on a highly energetic stage, made all the more richer in a live performance format! It is completely true to its Spanish namesake and an attractive experience indeed.
For this new program, “WA!!”, the production was fully upgraded by incorporating Japanese cultural elements including festivals, taiko drums, and samurai everywhere, adding to the thrilling appeal of Fuerza Bruta’s shows.
Over 100,000 fans have joined in "WA!!" so far—and not only Japanese but a solid number of foreign tourists are attracted to the show as well!
Fuerza Bruta’s charm is nearly beyond description, so to report on it I have been closely in touch with Quentin and Pamela, who experienced Fuerza Bruta themselves!!
It’s an experiential-type entertainment form where the performance unfolds not just in front of the audience, but around it as well.
There are 1st and 2nd-floor seats for Fuerza Bruta, however Quentin and Pamela chose the first floor space, where they and the other audience members can move freely around the venue.
Given that Fuerza Bruta’s performance is a mix of stage and immersive experience, you can get right into things and the entire room becomes the “stage”!
As the experience proceeds, a moving stage is suddenly set up in the middle of the hall, then samurai run through; later on, a fascinating performance unfolds in a swimming pool lowered from the ceiling; later on, performers run on the walls, etc... It is a show no one can tell where and what will happen next!
During the 70-minute show, you can freely choose your own way of enjoying from your favorite place, which is the big appeal of Fuerza Bruta!
Because Quentin and Pamela are the get-up-and-go type, they enjoyed it at the position closest to the stage and the performers!
The close proximity between you and the performers gives you plenty of entertainment!
In Fuerza Bruta, the distance to the performer is so close.
Also, in certain “scenes”, performers and spectators can actually interact: audience members can rise above the stage and dance together with performers—in other words, and you can enjoy yourself as if you were a performer yourself!
Fuerza Bruta allows you to enjoy yourself and co-create with the performers.
During this performance, we are able to see the swimming pool from below as it is gradually lowered down to reachable height...

A live performance of Japanese taiko drums and dance right in front of your eyes
Have you ever heard or experienced a live taiko drum performance? The rumbling beat pierces through the body, as the deep bass shakes your soul...that is the magic of the taiko.
In Fuerza Bruta, an overwhelming Japanese drum performance is developed in a powerful stage set with the giant Noh masks of a demon (hannya) and a cheerful woman (okame) peering out at the audience. (Taiko)
Then, a yagura (tower) suddenly appears from nowhere and passes through the middle of the floor, and a matsuri festival begins all around!
Some people tried to dance with performers having sharp dance, and the entire venue is united together!
The atmosphere, like a festival popular with Japanese and visitors alike, covers the entire venue and makes you feel like you are exactly taking part in the festival! (Carro Awaodori)
Both Quentin and Pamela had been watching the stage from the front row, and were guided over by the tower and danced together!
This is the really unique atmosphere of Fuerza Bruta!(Musicos Nebuta)
Performance where samurai, ninja, and geisha run at full speed.
One of Fuerza Bruta’s most popular performances is the scene where armored samurai are running through at full speed!
As they run, they crash through obstacles on the stage appearing in the middle of the hall while pushing against wind and bursts of confetti!
They fall for their way of running through energetically. The two of them are really excited! (Samurai)
What art!! You can’t help but admire the view of such a fantastic space.
While Fuerza Bruta has an exceptional performance just like festivities, artistic performances that the whole spectators are quieted and watch in admiration are also highlighted.
The performance in which geisha girls show off a fascinating quiet dance is also a masterpiece.
In the movement, they even dance upside-down! (Geishas WindTunnel)
During the performance, you can watch from under a swimming pool suspended in midair, as women splash and slide about in a mysterious swimming show.
Movement of bubbles produced colorful lighting and performers’ movement creates a fantastic space. Quentin and Pamela watched in admiration, caught by the spell. (Geishas Mylar)
Pictures are okay! You can take a picture with performers
Since Fuerza Bruta’s various performances are quite attractive, taking video and photos in the venue is completely okay.
Although flash photography isn’t allowed, people are invited to snap instagrammable photos! (And don't forget the hashtag, "#FBWJP" or "#FuerzaBruta"!)
You can even take commemorative photos with performers after the show!
Since Fuerza Bruta is a performance-type event, it is best for you to come in casual clothes!
As you see, Fuerza Bruta is a show you can enjoy with five senses! So, be sure to come in light clothes.
There are also baggage lockers and a cloak room where you can deposit large baggage, so you can enjoy the 70 minutes securely without worrying about bags and things—even if you came directly to the event after shopping or sightseeing somewhere!
You can also enjoy Fuerza Bruta’s show as a kind of nightclub: alcoholic drinks are also available at the venue!
Discounts are available for early reservations! They also have discounts for foreign tourists and residents. If you want to sit back and relax for enjoying the show, you can get a VIP seat.
The ticket we talked about is for "Floor Move Around", with which you can freely move around the first floor.
It is exactly the kind of spot from where you can enjoy each performance up close, enjoying Fuerza Bruta’s charm to the fullest, but, I think, some people want to sit down and appreciate in a relaxed way?
If you’re such a person, we would like to recommend the VIP seats on the second floor. You can appreciate the show in a dignified pose with a glass of champagne in one hand. Indeed, this is also a popular ticket.
Tickets are available at the link below. Discounts are available for very early reservations!
Be sure to book tickets as soon as possible if you are determined to visit Japan!
Performances are held in Shinagawa Prince Hotel Stellar Ball, a convenient setting 5 minutes on foot from JR Shinagawa Station.
There are restaurants that are open until late at night both inside and outside of the hotel, and you can enjoy it all as a great night out!
Check the following links for detailed access.
So how was Fuerza Bruta?
You see the posters and videos for Fuerza Bruta and it looks exciting, but you still can’t quite understand what the event is all about. But once you join the experience, it’s absolutely incredible—you feel a sense of living life, of unity, of joy. Thrilling.
I completely understand how so many others say that they’re thoroughly satisfied with Fuerza Bruta’s attractive content and experience.
Even those who have experienced Fuerza Bruta elsewhere will still love joining “WA!!”, as the show is limited to Japan and the way it is directed is completely different from other performances.
Please also check here! You can see what Fuerza Bruta is all about in their videos on the official FUERZA BRUTA Tokyo YouTube channel!
The stunning taiko drum performance, overwhelming decorations, a lot of performance that the soul trembles... Why don’t you come and visit the venue and experience it?!
