In spring, some people enjoy "hanami-buro" (a bath from which you can enjoy cherry blossoms), a unique experience only available at this time of year.

Awanoyu boasts unique milky white hot spring water. In spring, you can enjoy the cherry blossoms in the large open-air bath shared by men and women, where you can feel the change of the seasons. The entrance is separated for men and women, and bathing is done wearing a provided towel garment. Since the water is cloudy, bathers need not worry about being seen.
Water from the Awanoyu source is also somewhat unusual in that it can also be drunk - unlike the majority of onsen springs. It is said to be effective against gastrointestinal disorders and diabetes.
