Places to Visit in Shinjuku: Enjoy a Calm Atmosphere!

Tokyo Opera City in the Nishi-Shinjuku area is a complex with restaurants, concert halls, art galleries,and more. From the observatory restaurant on the 54th floor, you can overlook the entire city of Shinjuku. Various concerts and exhibitions are held there. "otoge," where you play a musical instrument in time to the music, as well as classic favorites including crane games and fighting games. After playing games, you can also try "purikura," the photo sticker machine and take home a memory of your visit!

Shinjuku Points of Interest: Feel the Greenery!

At Shinjuku Gyoen, which is a short walk from Shinjuku Station, you can see a number of elaborate gardens such as the Japanese Garden and the English Landscape Garden. In spring, it is crowded with people who come to view the cherry blossoms. Opening hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. General admission is 200 yen. In the garden, you must not bring or drink alcohol, nor use playground or sports equipment.

When you shop in Shinjuku, you cannot miss Shinjuku Road, where popular fashion stores stand in line. If you buy food as a souvenir, the basement floor of the main building of "Shinjuku Isetan" is recommended. Bento and side dishes are sold, which are ideal for a quick and convenient lunch.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is a well-known spot and crowded with tourists from all over the world. It offers a stunning view on Tokyo from 202m above the ground, entirely for free, while even boasting a restaurant and a souvenir shop.
