Vanellope’s Sweet Pop World at Tokyo Disneyland (Chiba)

If you’ve ever dreamed of wandering through a world made entirely of candy, Vanellope’s Sweet Pop World at Tokyo Disneylanda will give you an idea of what that’s really like. June is your last chance to catch the park transformed into a sugary world, inspired by the racer protagonist from the Wreck-It Ralph franchise.
Guests are treated to a brand-new parade called “It’s a Sweetsful Time!” involving favorite characters and, of course, a lot of candy. For the entire period, the park is decked out in candy-themed decorations and there are special food items available.

Sparkling Jubilee at Tokyo DisneySea (Chiba)

Celebrate in style as Tokyo DisneySea reaches its 25th year of operation. The entire park will be dressed in blue for the occasion, with everything from special blue-themed food menus to glittering blue illuminations and character costumes.
Visitors will receive exclusive leaflets for each area, revealing a special adventure. Cast members will carry exclusive flags, and customers buying a special bottle in the Ponte Vecchio will grant access to a secret installation.

PuroSpringParty at Sanrio Puroland (Tokyo)

Fans of Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Esther Bunny: rejoice! This year, the characters at Sanrio Puroland are committed to spreading that springtime spirit. The park will be lit up with twinkling lights and flowers throughout the festive period, and there will be special appearances, decorations and music.
Esther Bunny will perform exclusive greetings, and during the special Springtime Parade, all your favorite characters will be dressed as bunnies too, with watchers encouraged to put a hop, step and jump in their stride.

Traditional Japanese Festivals
Torikoe Festival at Torigoe Shrine (Tokyo)

Every year, the Torikoe Shrine in the Tokyo district of Taito-ku hosts an exhilarating nighttime mikoshi (portable shrine) parade in the capital.
The festival culminates with a performer dressed as Sarutahiko, a creature from Japanese folklore, leading a parade of traditional tekomai dancers. They’re joined by local children carrying colorful flags, and the main attraction: a giant mikoshi.

Tsukiji Shishi Festival at Namiyoke Inari Shrine (Tokyo)

Tokyo’s Namiyoke Inari Shrine is located in Tsukiji, an area of Tokyo famous for its fishing market. The shrine — which was underwater only 350 years ago — is known as a place to pray for protection related to the ocean.
The Tsukiji Shishi festival, also known as the Lion Dance Festival, features lions said to command obedience with a single roar, thus enabling locals to succeed in their endeavors. 2026 is notable as it marks 350 years since the shrine was opened.

Sanno Festival at Hie Shrine (Tokyo)

One of the ‘Big Three’ Tokyo festivals happens near Hie Shrine across much of June. Known by myriad names — its official website even calls it the ‘tenka festival — the festival is legendary for its scope and history. It began over 400 years prior, and boasts three huge mikoshi that tour 300 meters of Tokyo’s inner-city streets.
The Shinko parade, held once every two years, happens in 2026, making this year extra-special. The parade sees 500 participants dressed in Heian Period costume, moving through the city. Throughout the festival period, there are multiple ways to enjoy the festivities, from Japanese tea and sweets to dancing and music.

Kawasaki Sanno Festival at Inage Shrine (Kanagawa)

In the past, Kawasaki’s Sanno Festival was held in August. Due to rising temperatures, the shrine has officially moved the festivities to June.
The festival boasts two mikoshi processions: “Kujaku” and “Tama,” which celebrate male and female deities. The ornate mikoshi are paraded through the streets by local groups, accompanied by rhythmic chants, music, and contagious energy.

Sports & Spectator Events
Japan Rugby League One Finals at Various (Tokyo)

The 2025/2026 season of Japan’s Rugby League One draws to a close with its final matches, held across Tokyo. Since Japan hosted the World Cup in 2019, the sport has become an exhilarating success, with matches and atmosphere ramped up.
At the time of writing, it’s too early to tell who will be playing who in the 3rd Place Match Final and then the Final, but it’s sure to be exciting.

Exhibitions and Museum Events
Ron Mueck at Mori Art Museum (Tokyo)

One of Australia’s most famous contemporary art exports, Ron Mueck, is hosting his second-ever show in Japan, co-organized with the Mori Art Museum. The sculptor is known for his large-scale works that distort the viewers’ sense of perspective.
This show is Mueck’s first in Japan since 2008, and focuses on his large-scale art, much of which is being shown in Japan for the first time. Enjoy the surreal and mundane through Mueck’s eyes.

Rêve des Lumières at Tokyo Dream Park (Tokyo)

The hugely popular French studio, Atelier des Lumières, makes its debut in Japan with Rêve des Lumières. Visitors will enjoy classic paintings such as Van Gogh and Guadi coming to life in an explosion of light and sound.
According to the press release, the space is designed to stimulate all five senses, so look out for exciting smells and tastes, too. Imagery will be beamed through 106 projectors and 63 synchronized speakers across an expansive 1,500 meters.

Seasonal Events: Rainy Season Flowers and more
Tokyo Pride 2026 at Various (Tokyo)

Tokyo’s Pride festival, an annual celebration of the queer community dating back to 1994, is back, featuring a rainbow-colored lineup of music, food, and performing arts from day to night.
The daytime events see free performances, food, and more at Yoyogi Park Events space. Musicians like Thelma Aoyama will perform, as well as drag queens and more. Sunday sees the festival parade on its Shibuya-centric route, before the festivities close with a Pride Night party of local DJs and drag queens.

Invitation from Hogwarts at Warner Bros. Studios Tour (Tokyo)

The ever-popular Warner Bros. Studio Tour celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone movie in style.
Visitors are treated to a Sorting Hat activity in the Great Hall, as well as extra displays including exclusive BTS demonstrations at how the invisibility cloak was made. There will also be special menus in the restaurant and limited edition merchandise.

Garden Necklace Yokohama 2026 around Minato Waterfront (Kanagawa)

Garden Necklace Yokohama is an annual spring event that highlights Yokohama’s abundance of flowers and greenery.
The event spans multiple locations across the city, including the Minato Waterfront Area and Satoyama Garden, home to the Yokohama Floral Display Garden. Visitors in June will be able to catch the end of the rose display at the Minato Waterfront Area, with nearly 2,000 roses across 160 different varieties.
