Christmas Markets in Tohoku
Sendai Christmas Market 2024
The Sendai Christmas Market 2024 will take place at Nishikicho Park, a popular event that attracted around 250,000 visitors in 2023. This year, the venue expands to 30 wooden huts (Hütten) from last year’s 20 and runs for 20 days from December 6 to 25, 2024.
The market features Tohoku’s largest Christmas tree, standing 5 meters tall, with beautiful illuminations lighting up the night and creating a warm and festive atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy delicious Christmas foods and browse unique holiday goods at the Hütten. A highlight this year is a clam chowder specialty shop, Harry’s Chowder, operated by the well-known Matsushima burger restaurant Harry’s Junction.
Exclusive items, such as limited-edition mugs, will also be available. On specific dates (December 14, 15, 21, 22, 23, 24, and 25), a participation fee of 1,300 yen or 1,600 yen includes an original mug as a souvenir. Admission is free for children in elementary school and younger on all days.

Roppongi Hills Christmas Market 2024
The Roppongi Hills Christmas Market 2024 brings the festive spirit of a traditional German Christmas to Japan. Now in its 18th year, it is one of the country’s most established holiday markets. The O-YANE PLAZA is lined with shops offering German crafts and ornaments, including around 2,000 Christmas items from the renowned Käthe Wohlfahrt store, making it an ideal spot for finding unique gifts and decorations.
