1. Snap Stunning Photos at Tokyo Mega Illumi
The Tokyo Mega Illumi event, held at Oi Racecourse on non-racing days, offers a variety of stunning, photo-worthy displays. Highlights include the Mega Tree, vibrant Rainbow Stairs, the charming Rose Garden, a wisteria-themed Wisteria Trellis, and the breathtaking 100-meter-long Edo Sakura Tunnel.
Cutting-edge attractions like colorful moving lights, which shift and dance in different shapes, and interactive projection mapping that responds to your footsteps, add an extra layer of magic to this must-see event!
As a special feature unique to Oi Racecourse, the Miniature Horse and Pony Event takes place daily in front of G-FRONT. Adorably groomed miniature horses and ponies, with braided manes and tails decorated with ribbons, make an appearance to delight visitors.
Additional activities include pony riding and carriage rides, available on select days with advance reservation and a fee. It’s a charming experience for animal lovers of all ages!

2. The World’s Only Gemstone-Inspired Illuminations: Yomiuri Land Jewellumination® LIGHT is LOVE Diamond 60 Celebration
The annual illumination event at Yomiuri Land is a spectacular production by renowned lighting designer Motoko Ishii. This year, in celebration of Yomiuri Land’s 60th anniversary and the diamond wedding anniversary symbolizing 60 years of marriage, the theme "LIGHT is LOVE Diamond 60 Celebration" transforms the park into a vibrant display of colorful lights.
At the entrance, the Sun Plaza and its surrounding areas feature a dazzling new illumination inspired by the "diamond wedding" theme, celebrating both Yomiuri Land’s 60th anniversary and the milestone of 60 years of marriage.
Adding to the festivities, the newly installed Ferris wheel Sky-Go-LAND showcases a special display of gemstone-like lights that shift and sparkle like a parade. For a limited time until January 13, 2025, it will light up alongside the iconic Giant Ferris Wheel, making this the only location in Japan where two Ferris wheels operate simultaneously in such stunning harmony.

3. 820,000 Champagne-Gold Lights Sparkle at Marunouchi Illumination 2024
Now in its 23rd year, the Marunouchi Illumination transforms over 1.2 kilometers of Marunouchi Naka-dori and more than 286 street trees into a shimmering wonderland. Lit by approximately 820,000 LEDs in the sophisticated Marunouchi-original champagne gold color, this event is a true holiday highlight.
From November 28 to December 25, 2024, the illuminations will extend to Gyoko-dori, connecting the Imperial Palace Outer Garden and Tokyo Station.
Marunouchi Naka-dori will also host a festive Christmas market and food trucks along a 500-meter stretch, while Gyoko-dori will feature a skating rink starting November 28.

5. A Winter Tradition at Roppongi Hills: Roppongi Hills Christmas 2024
Heralding the arrival of winter in Tokyo, the iconic Keyakizaka illuminations return to Roppongi Hills. Around 800,000 sophisticated "Snow & Blue" LEDs light up the 400-meter-long Keyakizaka street, creating a dazzling urban display.
Prime photo spots include areas near Tiffany & Co. and Roppongi Tsutaya Books, where you can capture the full view of the lights from both ends of the slope. For an extra touch of magic, try filming as the lights turn on!
At 66 Plaza, don’t miss the enchanting "Bouquet of Lights," an illumination that transforms the Keyaki trees into a stunning bouquet of colors. Created with approximately 200,000 LEDs, this dazzling display weaves together a variety of hues for a truly magical effect.
Roppongi Hills also hosts a German-style Christmas market, where you can browse authentic Christmas ornaments and enjoy classic German cuisine. The market runs from November 23 to December 25, from 11 AM to 9 PM.

6. The World’s Largest Baccarat Chandelier Returns to Ebisu: Baccarat ETERNAL LIGHTS – The Shape of Joy –
The annual Winter Illumination at Ebisu Garden Place features the iconic Baccarat chandelier once again. Now in its 25th year, this stunning masterpiece lights up the space with the brilliance of 250 sparkling bulbs.
This year, in celebration of Ebisu Garden Place’s 30th anniversary, a massive 10-meter Christmas tree and the illuminated promenade leading to the chandelier will feature a special light show every 30 minutes. Equipped with eight RGB lighting devices for the tree and twelve for the promenade, the display synchronizes with music to bathe the area in shifting colors. Adding to the festive atmosphere, 5,000 flashlights twinkle, enhancing the Christmas mood.
For an even more magical experience, a Christmas market will be held at two locations: the Clock Plaza and, for the first time, the Chateau Plaza.

7. A Winter Tradition: Tokyo Dome City Winter Illumination
The annual Tokyo Dome City Winter Illumination celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. With the theme SNOW DOME, the entire Tokyo Dome City is adorned in stunning white lights, creating a magical, snow-like glow.
At the Crystal Avenue Lawn Square, the centerpiece of Tokyo Snow Dome City, the 15-meter-tall Wonder Snow Tree dazzles with a special show combining lights and bubbles. Running every 15 minutes from 5 PM to 10:45 PM, this enchanting display transforms the area into a dreamlike snow globe experience.
Other highlights include an interactive snow dome where mirrored reflections create dynamic light effects, Santa greetings, and a bubble workshop. These hands-on attractions make the event even more magical and memorable for visitors of all ages.

8. Shinjuku’s South Exit Sparkles: Shinjuku Minamillumi
With the theme "Light, Colorful. Heart, Joyful. Colorful & Heartful," Shinjuku Minamillumi transforms the entire South Exit area into a glowing wonderland. Six participating locations each feature unique illuminations inspired by the theme, wrapping the Shinjuku South Exit area in a vibrant display of light and color.
At Suica’s Penguin Plaza, directly connected to Shinjuku Station’s New South Gate, you’ll find a sparkling Welcome Gate and a "SHINJUKU" letter sculpture that shines both day and night. From the New South Gate, a corridor of lights leads you through Shinjuku Southern Terrace’s walkway, Shinjuku Mylord Tower, and Takashimaya Times Square, creating a captivating illuminated journey.

9. Step Into a Movie-Inspired Wonderland: HIBIYA Magic Time Illumination 2024
The HIBIYA Magic Time Illumination 2024 will light up Tokyo Midtown Hibiya (Hibiya Step Plaza and the 6th Floor Park View Garden) and Hibiya Naka-dori with stunning displays.
At the main venue, Hibiya Step Plaza, illuminations inspired by the world of Disney's Moana and the Legend of the Sea 2 take center stage. Decorated in ocean-inspired blue tones, ornaments and lights recreate the expansive sea from the film, with seven Christmas trees serving as the focal point, immersing visitors in the movie’s magical atmosphere.
Meanwhile, the surrounding areas and Hibiya Naka-dori feature illuminations depicting mystical natural phenomena in the sky. From the enchanting deep blue hues of the "Blue Moment" (November 14 to December 6) to the artistic "Aurora Green," inspired by northern lights (December 7 to December 25), the displays bring rare, awe-inspiring sights to life.

10. Step Into a Magical After-Dark World: MIDTOWN CHRISTMAS 2024
The MIDTOWN CHRISTMAS 2024 at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi is bigger than ever, covering the entire Midtown Garden with around 560,000 sparkling lights.
The main display, Ensemble Lights, brings a snowy wonderland to life. It starts with a golden-lit cityscape, followed by softly falling snow, and ends in a gorgeous snowy scene. With lights and music perfectly synced, plus fun extras like floating bubbles and falling snow effects, it’s a magical experience you won’t want to miss.
Other highlights include the Path of Light, where shimmering gold illuminations light up the streets, and the Timeless Gold Tree, a sophisticated Christmas tree in gold and red tones that adds a touch of elegance to the season.
Beyond the illuminations, there’s plenty more to enjoy! A Christmas market runs until December 25 (11 AM–9 PM, extended to 10 PM from December 21–25), and the KOSÉ MIDTOWN ICE RINK, one of Tokyo’s largest outdoor skating rinks, is open until February 24, 2025 (11 AM–9 PM, last entry at 8 PM, closed January 1).

11. Sparkling Lights with Tokyo Bay Views: Odaiba Illumination "YAKEI"

14. 10th Anniversary "Shibuya Blue Cave - THE SNOW DOME -"
In 2014, the illumination event began in Tokyo's Nakameguro as the "Nakameguro Blue Cave" and has since been held in Shibuya, Sapporo, Osaka, and Fukuoka. This year marks its memorable 10th anniversary.
Held along Shibuya Koen-dori and the Zelkova-lined promenade of Yoyogi Park, approximately 600,000 blue lights will romantically illuminate Shibuya nights with creative displays. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the new "Shibuya Blue Cave - THE SNOW DOME -" will be introduced this year.
