■About Hoshi - The oldest inn in the Hokuriku region The history of Hoshi began at the same time as the history of Mt. Hakusan, one of Japan's three most sacred mountains, which celebrated its 1,300th anniversary since its founding. While Taicho Daishi was undergoing rigorous training at Mt. Hakusan, Hakusan Daigongen appeared in a dream and told him about a sacred spring hidden deep underground. Following the god's words, Daishi went to Awazu and discovered the sacred spring. He had his disciple, Masaaki, who had been close to him, build a hot spring inn and entrusted it with the care of the hot spring, and this was the beginning of "Hoshi". After Masaaki's death, his adopted son Zengoro took over as the second generation, and the inn has continued to be run by the same family for 46 generations, and continues to protect the hot spring to this day. It is a rare inn in the world that has continued to operate solely by the family.
