新宮熊野神社「長床」

Description

The Nagatoko is said to have been built in 1055 on orders from Minamoto no Yoriyoshi. Forty-four massive pillars support the building, following an architectural style based on nobles' residences in the Heian period. The shrine was also used as training venue for ascetic monks.
