Description

Located under the massive terminal where the JR, Hanshin, Hankyu, and Osaka Metro lines meet, around 400,000 people pass through Whity Umeda every day. Affectionately called ”Umechika” since its opening in 1963, this underground shopping mall changed its name to ”Whity Umeda” to representing the image of a ”city of white.”

The central part of Whity Umeda features restaurants, retail shops, and service stores. The western section, ”mikke,” welcomes customers as the doorway to Whity Umeda. The north part, ”Petit Chien,” is occupied by fashion, cosmetics, and general goods stores, and the east part has ”Izumi no Hiroba,” which is popular as a meeting spot (the area surrounding Izumi no Hiroba is now under renovation until November 2019). With a fountain at its center, Izumi no Hiroba exudes a beautiful atmosphere created by lights and the sounds of water to calm ”the eyes and ears” of everyone around it.
