Description
Hozenji Yokocho runs for 80 meters on two roads running east to west, only a mere three meters wide. Here you can find countless old Japanese restaurants and bars for foods like kushikatsu and okonomiyaki. The land technically is a part of the grounds of Hozenji Temple, a temple belonging to the Jodo sect of Buddhism, but at some point the alley became populated with food stalls selling food to those who came to worship at the shrine. The alley is the setting for the novel “Meoto Zenzai” (Sweet Bean Broth for Two) written by Sakunosuke Oda.
