This is my honest opinion on most of Nara touristy area. There's so many deer roaming uncontrollably, you are smelling and dodging poop all the time. They come up on you and for some American folks...Visited August 2026 -

It was really fun going to Nara Park. It's just a few minutes walk from the train station and there are literally hundreds and hundreds of deer. They are quite tame but you do have to be cautious...Visited June 2026
