Description

Mt. Wakakusa is a 342-meter-high, gently sloping mountain, and it’s covered with grass on all sides. From the summit, you can easily view the Great Buddha Hall and the entire Nara Basin. If the weather is favorable, you can also see Mt. Nijou and Mt. Yamato Katsuragi to your left, and all the way to Kyoto on your right. Each January, approximately 33 hectares of the mountain are dyed red with flames during the Wakakusa Yamayaki Festival.
