Description
Yoshimizu Shrine is one of the most dignified monasteries for Shugenshu religious practice. The facility became a shrine after the ordinance to distinguish Shinto and Buddhism was issued at the start of the Meiji era. The temple served as a hiding place for Minamoto no Yoshitsune and Shizuka Gozen. It has been the stage for numerous other historical episodes, including serving as a throne to Emperor Go-Daigo, as a temporary residence of Minamoto no Yoshitsune, and as the site of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's hanami parties.
