Anraku-ji Temple is a temple that stands on the remains of a Buddhist prayer hall by Juren and Anraku, two disciples of Honen. When two imperial concubines named Matsumushi and Suzumushi secretly joined the sect, the emperor in power, Gotoba, became enraged. He had the two monks killed. The temple was built in memorial of them.
