Description
Giou-ji Temple is said to tell the story of a dancer named Gio who won favor with Taira no Kiyomori, but when she eventually fell out of favor with him, she, her sister, and her mother all fled to Giou-ji Temple. They then shaved their heads and lived as nuns there. The grounds are surrounded by verdant greenery, amidst which a thatched roof hut quietly stands.
