Description

Koryu-ji Temple was built in 603 during the reign of Empress Suiko by the powerful Hata clan who were following the orders of Prince Shotoku. The principal object of worship here is a statue of Prince Shotoku, and the temple is said to be one of the seven great temples of Nara erected by the prince. First and foremost of its national treasures is a beautiful Buddha statue, depicting Miroku Bosatsu sitting in a half-lotus position.
