Honpukuji: The Water Temple

Description

Established in the late Heian period, this is the special head temple of the Shingon sect's Omura school. The main hall was rebuilt in 1991 by Tadao Ando, who uniquely designed the structure right below a lotus pond. The sun sets behind the main hall's inner temple, making for a fantastic sight.
