Former Hokkaido Government Office Building (Red Brick Office)
北海道庁旧本庁舎 赤れんが庁舎
Description
This beautiful building, constructed in an American Neo-Baroque style, has been designated as an Important Cultural Asset. It was built in 1888 using the Hokkaido Development Commission Sapporo Main Office as a model, and suffered internal fire damage in 1909. The current building was restored in 1968 to appear as it did when first built.
