Through March 31, Shiroi Koibito Park is marking its 30th anniversary with special events. One highlight is a limited-edition Golden Kamuy collaboration tin, available in limited quantities starting March 14 (4,600 yen each; while supplies last). On March 28 and 29, the Rose Garden will also host a rose pruning workshop, sharing the seasonal preparations for spring blooms with visitors.

To celebrate the fourth anniversary of Royce’ Town Station, this “pack-your-own-chocolate” event will be held for two days only, on March 14 and 15. Special tickets to the interactive facility in Tobetsu, Ishikari District are also being offered, with the event serving both as a tourism draw and as a way to encourage rail use.

Held on March 15 at Hokkaido Ballpark F Village, this event invites guests to enjoy a tour with team mascot, B・B. Participants can try the aerial athletics area and visit the agricultural learning facility, Kubota Agri Front. It’s a notable example of how F Village continues to attract visitors, even on non-game days!

Running from March 7 to April 9, this collaboration event ties a popular entertainment franchise to a real horse-breeding destination. At the Historical Village of Hokkaido, you can experience Japan's pioneering days at the location that inspired popular manga series, Golden Kamuy.

Through March 22, valuable hina dolls are displayed inside historical buildings here, and on March 20, a volunteer-guided tour will also be held, offering visitors a chance to learn about everyday life and customs from the Meiji and Taisho periods.

Observed on March 16, Shanichi is a traditional event in which seeds for the five grains are enshrined and prayers are offered for a good harvest. It is conducted at shrines across Hokkaido and serves as a seasonal spiritual marker before the start of full-scale agricultural work.

Centered on March 20, this seasonal observance honors ancestors while also functioning as a spring festival marking the end of winter and offering prayers for the coming harvest.

At Es Con Field, the home field of the Fighters located in Hokkaido Ball Park F Village, the Fighters host preseason games starting with the March 4 matchup against Seibu, followed by games against teams like Lotte and Yakult. Levanga Hokkaido faces the Ibaraki Robots at Hokkai Kitayell on March 24. The game offers the close-up excitement typical of arena sports and reinforces basketball’s role as part of Sapporo’s urban entertainment scene. Running until April 12, this collection exhibition emphasizes narrative qualities in art. A curator’s museum talk is also scheduled for March 29.

From April 16 to 19, this commemorative event marks the 50th anniversary of the Clark Statue. Held at the start of the new school and work year, it offers a symbolic opportunity to reflect on Dr. Clark’s famous message, “Boys, be ambitious.”

From April 25 to May 6, F Village turns the ballpark into a giant play space centered on children. Major features include job-experience activities and kids’ stage programs. After arriving from Zoorasia on March 16, the red panda Hinagiku has come to Maruyama Zoo, and is slowly being made available for public viewing as she gets accustomed to her new environment. Note that because she is being carefully monitored, viewing is still dependent on her condition, and she may not be available on some days.

From late April, Maruyama Park becomes one of Sapporo’s best-known cherry blossom spots. Even under no-open-flame rules, the gathering of locals to celebrate spring remains one of the city’s classic seasonal scenes.

On April 29, volunteers lead a guided tour through the park’s Sakura Forest, home to around 1,600 cherry trees. The event offers an artistic blossom-viewing experience where Isamu Noguchi’s design and nature meet.

From April 10 to May 10, around 400 koinobori fly above the Toyohira River in Jozankei Onsen. The vivid carp streamers set against the snow-melted river create a seasonal view unique to this time of year.

From late April, visitors can enjoy one of Hokkaido’s distinctive spring sights: about 1,400 cherry trees and around 250 plum trees blooming at the same time, making it the perfect spot for a colorful hanami!

Held on April 18 and 19 at Premist Dome, this festival-style live music event features major artists including Kep1er and Daichi Miura. It highlights the possibilities of using a sports venue as a large-scale entertainment space.

Held on April 3 and 4 at Sapporo Factory, this viewer-appreciation event brings together HTB’s popular character On-chan and featured performers. Family-friendly content includes science shows and workshops.

Opening April 25 at the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art, this special exhibition combines the globally popular world of Pokémon with traditional craft showcased through over 90 unique works made by 20 different artists. The exhibition itself will run from April 25 through June 21, 2026. However in between, there will also be several separate special events on specific days, including commemorative photo shoots with Pikachu dressed in a kimono!

Beginning on April 18, this exhibition preserves memory through materials related to the history and daily life of Karafuto. On April 29, a curator’s highlights talk is also scheduled.

On April 25 and 26, this large-scale marketplace takes place at Tsudome. Around 1,200 booths will offer a wide range of handmade creations, from accessories to miscellaneous goods.

From May 16 to 31, more than 200,000 tulips bloom in what is described as a “rainbow flower field.” The event offers one of the season’s most striking displays of spring color.

Held from May 19 to 24 at Es Con Field HOKKAIDO, this event is presented as one of Japan’s largest bread festivals, bringing together famous and often highly sought-after bakeries.

During the Golden Week holiday period, numerous kitchen cars gather at Maruyama Zoo to meet outing demand from local families. The event combines animal viewing with local food offerings.

Held during Golden Week in early May, this seasonal activity lets visitors experience one of spring’s classic pastoral scenes. Watch as the staff shears the sheep in preparation for summertime, held twice per day from May 3rd to 5th. On these days, you can also join a wool keychain making workshop for 500 yen, and make your own original creation with colorful wool!

From May 20 to 31, this festival takes place in Odori Park and Kawashimo Park. Celebrating the lilac, Sapporo’s official tree, it fills the city with a festive mood through attractions such as a wine garden and music events. The Odori Venue takes place between May 20–31 from 10 AM to 9 PM, and the Kawashimo venue will be held only on the weekend of May 30–31. Some days also have other special events going on, so be sure to check the schedule for both venues before attending!

Held in late May at Odori Park 8-chome, this major ramen event brings together famous shops from around Japan along with leading Hokkaido ramen spots, showcasing Sapporo’s food culture on a large scale.

Held on May 14 and 15, this is one of Sapporo’s earliest summer festivals. The sound of mikoshi moving through the office district signals the arrival of a new season in the city.

Held around May 31, this event is an opportunity to rediscover one of the city’s local symbols through activities such as ropeway discounts, mountaintop stage events, and treasure-hunt-style quests, all framed around appreciation for Mt. Moiwa’s natural environment.

Held on May 17, this rare event allows runners to race along a thoroughbred training course, including the uphill slope track. Led by racehorses, it is known as a sports event that condenses the appeal of Hokkaido’s horse-breeding culture.

On May 3, this event starts and finishes at Makomanai Stadium. Running along fresh green riverside scenery, it symbolizes the full start of Sapporo’s running season.

Held on May 2 and 3 at Premist Dome, this is one of Hokkaido’s largest handmade festivals, with around 1,800 booths filling the venue.

Running from April 29 to June 28, this major special exhibition reexamines Foujita’s body of work through the perspective of photography, exploring both his creative process and his distinctive visual eye.

While Sapporo Miyanomori Art Museum is known for its collection and display of contemporary art, the nearby Hongo Shin Memorial Museum of Sculpture, Sapporo is holding an exhibition from February 22 to May 24 centered on sculptor Hongo Shin’s themes of peace and love. Together, they form a cultural route linking contemporary sculpture with regional sensibility.

Held on May 16 and 17, this citizen-participation craft market takes place alongside multiple art exhibitions in the gallery, creating a space where many forms of local creativity intersect.

On May 17, a lecture titled “What Is Repatriate Culture?” will be held as part of the exhibition’s educational program, offering visitors a deeper understanding of the displayed materials.
