Tokyo isn’t just full of modern skyscrapers that tower over the city but is also home to a lot of traditional and historic buildings and abundant nature – the metropolis sure is diverse. Let us introduce you to the four best spots in the city from which to gaze upon traditional gardens or the nighttime skyline, all while enjoying high-class cuisine!
Indulge in Teppanyaki Dishes while Enjoying the Night View
At the Shinjuku branch of Kobe Misono, you’ll get to enjoy A4 and A5 grade Japanese black beef and seafood specialties such as abalone, all grilled on a teppan. Watching the meat sizzle right in front of your eyes alone is an amazing experience and sure to quicken your appetite. The chefs do everything in their power to cater to their guests, even adjusting to how fast or slow you eat by altering their way of grilling. Located on the 51st floor of the huge Shinjuku Sumitomo Building, you can choose between a seat at the counter, in a private room, or at the window – an amazing view over the entire city is guaranteed, a scenery that includes Tokyo Tower as well as the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building. The Kobe Beef Course is available for 20,520 yen and the Japanese Black Course for 11,880 yen.
Luxurious Japanese Cuisine Along with a View of Tokyo Tower
Enjoy a laid-back meal at this upscale Japanese restaurant. Glance outside the wide windows directly looking on the Tokyo Tower from the atmospheric counter seats and enjoy high-class Japanese cuisine.
Some of the many offered courses include a kaiseki meal centered on seasonal ingredients for 10,000 yen, Japanese beef shabu-shabu for 12,000, or softshell turtle hot pot for 10,000 yen. The drink menu also offers a lot of variety and the sake selection is especially impressive, featuring varieties from all over Japan.
Although located on the 10th floor, the restaurant has a beautiful garden terrace with a fantastic atmosphere – almost like a garden in the sky.
Enjoy Kaiseki in a Magnificent Japanese Garden
Kioi Nadaman is located in the lobby of Hotel New Otani’s Garden Tower and offers a sublime view on the huge hotel’s own Japanese garden. This place seems like a rare oasis, abundant with nature, giving refuge from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis while indulging in excellent Japanese cuisine. The beautifully assorted kaiseki courses start from 15,444 yen, while the excellent tempura set, the delicious pride of the restaurant, can be enjoyed for 7,128. Private rooms, offering space for up to 24 people, are also available, so even large groups are more than welcome. Private rooms require a separate fee and the menu will be restricted.
A Famous French Restaurant Overlooking Tokyo Station
Nouvelle Ere can be found on the 5th floor of the Shin-Marunouchi Building, right next to Tokyo Station. Authentic French cuisine can be savored here, prepared by Chef Sasaki who studied the art of cooking in France for nine years. The carefully composed dishes are made to bring out the unique flavors of the different ingredients as best as possible, adjusting heat and cooking time to match perfectly. Courses start from 11,000 yen. The impressive, historical Tokyo Station can be overlooked from the glass-sided restaurant, creating the appropriate atmosphere for the elaborated dishes. In the evening, the red brick building is illuminated beautifully, making for an almost enigmatic night scenery.
