Once a year in the beautiful area of Miura, not far from Tokyo, one million cosmos bloom in a field covering 1,800 square meters. You can bask in the beauty of nature and take in the breathtaking purple hues on a tranquil walk, or join in the fun at the tournaments and festival events!

Yokosuka’s Kurihama Flower Park is set to be awash with cosmos between September and October. So, naturally, there are also plans for a Cosmos Festival! The Cosmos Festival will go on from September 7 to October 27. In the last week, there are plans for a “Flower Picking Event”, which everyone can enter free of charge!

With a huge variety of different colors and breeds, crisp yellows, sensational oranges and luscious purples will cover the gentle slopes and rolling hills of the park, which is the largest in the Miura area. Because of the variety of breeds, the cosmos can be viewed for a long time.

The Cosmos Picking Event is held at the end of the blooming season, so that everyone can make the most of the beautiful flowers beforehand. After the event you can take home any flowers you managed to pick home with you – a good memento idea if you can get them pressed!

Not only can you enjoy the stunning cosmos in autumn, but at Yokosuka City Kurihama you can enjoy the seasonal flowers year-round, and there are even family-friendly facilities such as the mighty Godzilla slide, bouldering facilities, an ocean view BBQ area and superb restaurants.
