- Written by: Miyu Shimada
All-inclusive hotels have been surging in popularity in Japan. These irresistible deals include accommodation, drinks, meals, and all services and experiences during your stay, ensuring you only have to take out the credit card once.
In this article, we’ve found four all-inclusive hotel plans at spots just outside Tokyo, each with its own charm and character. If you want your stay near Tokyo to be in peak luxury and convenience, don’t miss our selections below!
1. Ochiairo - A Hot Spring Inn and Registered Cultural Property Founded in 1874 (Shuzenji, Shizuoka)
Shuzenji, located in Izu, Shizuoka, can be reached by bullet train and railway from Tokyo in around an hour and a half. A 20-minute drive from Shuzenji, sitting where two rivers flowing from the mountains meet, is the all-inclusive inn of Ochiairo.
This establishment is renowned for its surrounding nature, along with the fact that the entire premises are a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan bursting with history.
The accommodation fee includes scrumptious meals incorporating locally sourced seasonal ingredients, drinks including alcoholic beverages, use of a private open-air bath, the Japanese bathing tax, and more, allowing you to thoroughly unwind without hassle. (*Separate charge for the tent sauna)
Each of the 14 rooms boasts a different make and design, crafted by the best architects and builders of the time. While retaining the original structure, bathrooms and sinks have been installed with the latest modern trimmings along with heated tatami flooring for added comfort.
The inn strives to make each guest feel relaxed and content when visiting, as if they are returning home, by meeting individual needs through impeccable service.
The inn also has an open-air cave bath called “Tengu-no-Yu” and an indoor bath called “Tsuki-no-Yu,” both with free-flowing geothermal water straight from the source, as well as two types of differently styled saunas. Plus, guests can also enjoy the private reservable open-air bath “Hoshi-no-Yu” for free (reserve after arriving, 50-minute time limit).
The calcium sodium sulfate hot spring waters have incredible moisturization properties, leading to the nickname “The Waters of Beauty.” Surrounded by the great outdoors of Izu, the troubles of the world will instantly melt away as you heal from the core of your body.
International guests who stayed at Ochiairo said, “the food was incredible, and the service was perfect,” “staying in a historical building with such delightful food and staff was exactly what we needed,” “the hot springs were stunning, and the staff were so caring.”

Hakone Yutowa is located just 90-minutes from Tokyo in the internationally renowned sightseeing and hot spring region of Hakone in Kanagawa.
It opened as an all-inclusive hotel in 2019 in the Gora area of Hakone with both hotel and condominium rooms. Along with plenty of space to stretch out, the hotel boasts a multitude of hot springs for a deeply fulfilling, exotic encounter.
After paying the accommodation fee and bathing tax at check-in, you’ll be able to enjoy the facilities at your pleasure without any additional charges. This includes the library, which boasts a collection of around 700 books, along with the courtyard footbaths, drinks with meals, and more!
You can select between the hotel or condominium rooms based on your preference, with the former being ideal for couples while the spacious latter is great for families. The condominium rooms are also equipped with access to Gora’s first private-source hot spring bolstered by gorgeous scenery.
This private hot spring draws water from the “Ninotaira Onsen,” celebrated for its purity and beautifying properties counted amongst Hakone’s 17 hot springs. The female bathing room has windows of various sizes cut into the wall and ceiling with blue, green, and yellow plastic projecting vivid color into the room. There is also a microbubble bath and sauna.
The men’s bath has a wooden ceiling with a bathtub rimmed in cypress wood, giving off a warm, nourishing ambiance. In addition to the regular bath and sauna, fun seasonal renditions like an iris bath or yuzu citrus bath are also regularly introduced.
The half-buffet dinner menu changes according to the season centered around Japanese cuisine. This includes dishes like tempura, soba, fried food, rice, soup, pickled vegetables, seasonal desserts, and more. As you can choose what you like, you’ll be free to pick all of your favorites. Dinner also includes a 35-item all-you-can-drink menu (including alcohol, 90-minute limit).
In addition, you can help yourself to drinks prepared in the library lounge. Breakfast is a Japanese-western buffet with around 30 different dishes.
International guests of Hakone Yutowa said, “everything was amazing – the free private hot spring, the drinks service, the kind staff, the comprehensive amenities, and more,” “the courtyard and whatnot were absolutely incredible, and we were able to fully relax in peak comfort.” It appears that many reviews were particularly thankful for the abundant private space allowing them to unwind in peace.

Within Gunma’s Shima Onsen is the famed Sekizenkan, which is housed inside Japan’s oldest hot spring inn structure still surviving today. Along with the regular plans is an all-inclusive option treating guests to the pinnacle of luxury.
Shima Onsen boasts over 1,200 years of history as one of the country’s most attractive hot spring villages. “Shima” means “40,000” in Japanese, which is said to refer to the belief that the waters here can cure 40,000 illnesses! It can be reached from Tokyo in around 3 hours, with a direct highway bus departing from Tokyo Station.
Sekizenkan’s facilities are made up of three buildings – the “Honkan” main building, the “Sansou” mountain villa, and the “Kashoutei.” The all-inclusive plan is held in the latter, which seamlessly blends the modern and traditional with a profusion of history and luxury.
Along with breakfast and dinner, you’ll be able to help yourself to a selection of in-room drinks and evening meal beverages (beer, champagne, sparkling wine, soft drink, etc., non-bottle). After bathing in the roomside open-air baths, you can tour and enjoy four different hot springs throughout the premises.
The all-inclusive rooms are 5-star, open-air bath style with two different types available from a total of 5 rooms. Blending traditional Japanese ambiance with modern convenience and comfort, you’ll be able to appreciate the best of both worlds thoroughly. You can also extend the regular check-out time of 11 a.m. until noon, giving you a full extra hour to relish the opulence.
Sekizenkan boasts four unique hot springs to enjoy, including the registered tangible cultural property of “Genroku no Yu” built in 1930 and the open-air bath of “Mori no Yu.” Each is worthy of the inn’s reputation as a “healing hot spring,” which has attracted continuing guests since long ago seeking to cure ailments and injuries through the mineral-rich waters.
Dinner is a lavish course of top-quality ingredients lovingly crafted by the chef. Incorporating a diverse selection of local delicacies and carefully selected vegetables, seafood, and meat, each dish is a work of art. This is your chance to discover the authentic Japanese “kaiseki” cuisine that ryokan are renowned for.

Designed upon the innovative concept of “a bar you stay in,” guests can unwind and drink while basking in the surrounding scenery from check-in until late at night. Alongside regular plans, there is a special all-inclusive option for one room only.
The rooms retain the classy, cool character of the bar and boast fantastic views of Mount Asama and Myojogatake. The all-inclusive Presidential Suite comes equipped with its own bar cabinet filled with drinks selected by the hotel bartender free to be enjoyed.
The Presidential Suite also has a semi-open-air bath, cold water bath, and sauna, allowing a multitude of ways to relax away your time. Naturally, there’s a gigantic drinks menu featuring 400 different selections of beer, sake, wine, cocktails, and more.
The next day, you’ll be served a champagne lunch overlooking the vast nature of Hakone. Enjoying these exquisite dishes, which include galettes and other meals made with seasonal ingredients, paired with the splendor of champagne is undoubtedly the height of pleasure!
The gorgeous panoramic views from the wide 2nd-floor lounge windows are also worth sitting down to appreciate. After dark, you can enjoy this scenery alongside a glass of wine, beer, or even homemade sangria – which are, of course, included!
